  • Hmm, maybe I’m going into too much detail.

Perhaps my question should be – what causes those dashes in the quality and motion blur switches when you collapse a pre-comp? Sometimes I get them, sometimes I don’t. Can’t recall/ find why.

Yes I probably should pre-render anyhow. Thanks for that.

Ah thanks but I’m going to have to muddle through with cs3. I may have to hang it all off one corner track & manually do the scale & perspective deformations. It’s a really quick shot but I’ll have to do 36 similar ones & need to layout an ideal work flow.

  • That’s a pity. Guess that’ll means creating lots of lossless files from AE to compress in something else.

Well, I’m currently in a pc based environment so apple compressor’s out. Is there an overwhelming opinion as to what is the best encoder amongst say, canopus procoder; Autodesk cleaner XL, Sorenson squeeze?

I’ve also seen amazing results from ffmpeg by Fabio Sonnati but its very 3rd party & I haven’t got far into its myriad settings. Guess I’ll have to try the demo’s where available for the above

As a PSD file. It imports fine & is recognised as the right sized HD footage.

Others have pointed out I should have more ram involved so I’m upping it to at least 3GB asap & turning on disk caching. Multiprocessing & fast previews are off. It still hangs around for up to two minutes when it hits the 1st frame of the photoshop edited section before slowly moving on with the rest of the preview.

Hopefully the ram will change this, otherwise its all going to take a long time.
