Did you hear that they will actually announce a shoulder mounted EX camera at NAB? There are some rumors floating around but I was wondering if anyone heard anything concrete.

Thanks Jeremy,
Guess it’s time to start saving for a 2700. I thought the Ki Pro might buy me a bit of time till we see what new cameras are coming.

I have now started to recapture my clips with angle designations like ‘”B”, “C”, or “2” -anything other than “1” which is the xdcam clip. When I recapture and see the new clip desgnation in the browser, after I make the clip a multiclip, the multiclip shows up with the angle designation [1] which cannot be changed.
Maybe there is a glitch. I have read about some multiclip issues on the forum here. Maybe this is just one more.
Thanks for the help.

I tried this. When I change the angles designation in the main clip that I imported in the way you describe, when I create the multiclip, it defaults to “1”. You would think when I change it when i create a multiclip, it would inherit the same characteristics. Not the case.
Anything else I could try?
Thanks for helping me.

Thanks, Noah.
I called Panasonic and they think the camera just needs a simple adjustment. Service location is in Montebello, not far from downtown L.A.
I will bring my Sony deck along as well.

The SDX900 is a really nice camera and you will have fun shooting with it. I m not tremendously experienced with the camera but I have shot with a number of times.
1. re:24p — 24Pp is very nice if you are trying to make it look like film. 30p looks very nice, too and handles camera movement better. There is less strobing. It has that nice film look but is better in my opinion if you are not going to do a film out. Also, at this school fair, there sounds like there could be a lot of panning etc and 30p may look better. It’s up to you.
2. 50 mpbs — Yes, I believe this will yeild the highest quality for this camera
3. Firwire out — As far ass I know, the SDX900 does NOT have firewire out. You will need a deck to capture.
4. Settings — Totally up to you.
5. 16×9 or 3×5 — 16×9 looks nicer to me. It’s more fun to have the bigger frame to work with. Again, totally up to you. If you were not going to go 16×9, you could rent a cheaper camera an get very nice results.
6. Any tricks — I would get soemone to help me with the sound. Retn a shotgun or something and put it on a boom pole and have someone hold it so that the mike picks up the people speaking or the activities. Good audio makes a tremenedous difference. Sounds like you may need a dead cat for the mike as well.
Hope this helps.

Should I still use the anamorphic? Sometimes it’s difficult to focus especially if someone s moving around on sage.
Thanks, Noah. Hope you had a good time at NAB.

I will capture with firewire and see what happpens. The iimage looks vey clean and the green screen was lit pretty evenly so it should be fine. I was talking to an editor friend and he was the one who told ne to come out of the Pannsonic desk via SDI rather than firewire so I was wondering if it really made any difference.

Also, Sim Video in Hollywood. Just rented an HD rig there and I noticed they had a few Varicams. We were shooting a low budget horror feature and the production got a great deal for 18 day shoot.

I am having the same problem. My camera has only 1 hour on it. I have been getting the red X in the viewfinder. It was hot that day and i thought that was the problem. Now it happened again, on another hot day. The tape will not playback on the camera – same blue screen that the previous poster had. The tape pays back on my Sony DV deck and looks fine. Occassionally it will play back on the camera but it’s blue screen for the most part.
Will running the tape cleaner help in this case or will a trip to a repair center be in order?
