I shot some DVX100 footage (not 100a, just 100) over the weekend. When I checked the footage by playing it back in the camera, everything looked fine.

However, when I play the same tape back on my Sony DVCAM deck which is my normal workflow, the image breaks up as it plays back. Tapes are Panasonic 63MQ.

When I play other tapes in the Sony deck, everything plays back fine. I got around the problem for now by capturing with the DVX10o which worked fine.

What could be causing this problem?

Your deck likely needs cleaning or a head realignment. Or the camera- one of the two. I’d start with the oldest.

    Thanks, Noah.

I called Panasonic and they think the camera just needs a simple adjustment. Service location is in Montebello, not far from downtown L.A.

I will bring my Sony deck along as well.
