david,
thanks for the response. it’s only in fcp. i’m also using soundtrack pro and the option key works fine there. i restored the defaults in the sp keyboard shortcuts and still nothing. if you have any other ideas, that would be great.

thanks,
though i couldn’t find a dv-50 easy set-up, using dv-50 in log and capture-capture settings-capture/input pulldown menu did the trick.

matte,
thanks for the response. during capture, fcp freezes on the first frame of the video and then a box titled ‘Insert Reel’ comes on the screen and says, ‘the reel #-00:00:00:00 – 0 clips – DONE’ and at the bottom of this window it says, ‘Capture encountered a problem reading the data on your source tape. This could be due to a problem with the tape. To capture as much of your footage as possible, please log and capture a clip that ends before this segment, and another one that starts right after it.’
i don’t think there is a problem with the tape because fcp will capture it in the offlineRT easy set-up.
i did trash preferences/rebuild permissions/shutdown-restart the computer.
again, the footage is dvcpro(not hd) shot with an SDX900 and i’m trying to capture with the panasonic 1200a.
any other help would be appreciated.

hey jeffrey,
i had the same issue a few months ago and it seems to have something to do with the period(.) in the clip name. in our experience, when we captured our clips the corresponding file would be renamed with a repeat of whatever followed the period.
for example: john sits down. take one
would be renamed: john sits down. take one. take one. take one
we were working hi res throughout the project and it didn’t cause us any grief. i’m not sure if it would have any effect in an offline to online scenario.

walter, thanks for your response. it looks like the footage in question was shot at the 60p setting and while we’re screening it looks like really bad video(obviously not film look 24p). on our past projects we have done this intentionally for slow motion purposes and used the panasonic frc. on this project, the dp left the camera on the wrong setting, 60p, and we are now trying to figure out how to make that footage look like 24p without it being slow motion.
thanks,

in addition to DRW’s questions:
is your projects audio sample rate 44.1khz or 48? whatever it is, does that correspond with the audio that you captured?

walter,
i have a question about your comment:“Broke up the US and Italy material into two separate projects and as we worked through the editing process…”
when you had both projects opened in the browser and you would perform a find bin on any given sequence, would fcp refer to bins in multiple projects?
to be a bit more clear, if you were working on a seqence that had clips from both you italy project and your u.s. project and you used find bin(shift+f) would fcp differentiate between the two projects when attempting to find bin from that one sequence?thank you and thanks to creative cow for making my avid to hd/fcp transition much less painfull,

jeremyg,
that was the only thing i missed on the kona control panel and that did the trick. no more roll on the monitor.
thanks for the response,
