I built a system based on a lot of recommendations from the Video Guys. I spent twice your budget a year ago and am happy with the results, but I could have spent much more getting better drives and another monitor. Anyway, check out what they have to say to see what type of hardware you need to meet the type of editing needs you desire. bootcamp means you are running Windows on actual hardware as opposed to a virtual machine, so unless you are getting better hardware than your current Mac, I would not expect the crashes to go away.

296.10 are the latest NVidia drivers not 295.73, Although 295.73 are from last month.

February 29, 2012 at 7:31 am in reply to: Sony Vegas pro 11 ERROR that doesn’t happen in Sony Vegas pro 10 – I can’t seem to fix itI just tried build 595 and it still had the same problem when I opened this test project. I did just discover, and not sure if it has to do with build 595, that if you rotate the frame in the pan crop tool all the way around 360 degrees, then the border shrinks to match the crop just like flipping the image horizontally did. It appears to border the whole frame when the angle is set to 0 degrees.

I found this, but ALT-SHIFT-4 is not as easy as ESC

January 20, 2012 at 6:28 am in reply to: Having jpg crop/zoom issues AND .vob playback issues in Vegas 11 64bitFYI…I just installed the Intel OpenCL SDK and tried having SVP 11 use that instead of the Nvidia GTX 570 GPU. I get the same results with the Pan Crop tool, so it does not look like a Nvidia OpenCL issue.

January 20, 2012 at 1:59 am in reply to: Having jpg crop/zoom issues AND .vob playback issues in Vegas 11 64bitI have a similar issue I have reported to Sony support. I take a single jpg and put it on the timeline. Now use the Pan Crop tool to crop the photo and then right click and flip it horizontally. The image, depending on how much I cropped will shift upward and to the right (sometimes it shifts so much it does not show in the preview). If I go to Options and turn off GPU video processing, then it behaves as expected.
I don’t really need to flip the picture, but this was a simple way for me to reproduce the problem with the Pan Crop tool with GPU acceleration turned on.
Using the NVidia GTX 570 290.53 driver and SVP 11 64 bit build 521. The crashes with SVP 11 have dropped drastically when I started using the beta NVidia drivers.

This is as designed. The text below is from the online help. Dragging the line all the way down goes to a negative velocity rather than 0.
——————Right-click a video event, choose Insert/Remove Envelope from the shortcut menu, and then choose Velocity from the submenu. A velocity envelope is drawn on the event.
Drag the envelope up to increase the playback speed of the event, or drag down to decrease its speed.
Setting a velocity envelope to a negative value will cause the event to play in reverse. Video events can only be reversed if there is media to reverse: an event cannot be reversed past the beginning of a media file. An event that has been reversed will play backwards until it gets to the first frame and will then hold that frame for the duration of the event.

I went back to build 425 and that seems just fine with the keyframes as you tested them.
