Check out this on the Apple support forum:

They mention the front camera is optimized for Facetime and hence can have odd framerates. Use the rear camera to record 1080P video.

Let me know what you expect. You cannot magically create the content that was at the sides, since it was never recorded.

    Your options are:

#1. Display it in the original 4:3 content with the black bars filling the space on the sides.

#2. Severely crop the top and bottom to zoom in to get the sides.

#3. Shift the 4:3 video to one side and add you own commentary/content to the other side. Maybe use scrolling text to introduce the people in the film. That way it is not just wasted space with the black bars.

#4. Have the video stretch to fill the sides, but then objects in the film will appear wider than normal.

Just another thought…I run Folding at Home on my GPU and that keeps it at 99% utilization (when I am not editing). I run an app for NVidia that bumps up the fan speed to keep it cooler. I also have 4 big fans in my case in addition to a large CPU/chipset fan and power supply fan. I wanted to avoid making the leap to liquid cooling and worrying about leaks.

Sounds like you used Pan Crop to get it back to 4:3 and now you want to go back to 16:9. You are going to end up with black bars on the side or lose content on the top and bottom, just like you saw when you recorded it. You could have Sony Vegas stretch it out, but that would not look good.

Just curious, are your versions of Sony Vegas Pro 10 and 11 64bit or 32bit? It is has been reported on this forum that the latest QuickTime has problems with Sony, but I never heard where it would work with one version vs the other. Hence my question to see if it might be related to the codecs used (32bit vs 64bit).

I wonder if the problem is with the GPU acceleration displaying on the screen, and hence more video driver related. I would suspect that the GPU for the render is more about calculations to determine the contents of the rendered file and hence does not have to interact with the video driver in the same way.

How are you disabling the GPU acceleration? To disable it for rendering you have to do that in the customize template in the Render As dialog. The Preferences Video tab GPU setting is for preview. It might help to troubleshoot to know which GPU methods were disabled.

I bought it in Feb 2011 and it died June 2012. Nvidia replaced the card for free, so I still have the same model.

It is working fine for me. Do you see the cursor in the media generator dialog timeline before you click the + to add the keyframe?

I tested with the Sony Solid Color one, is there a particular one you are having trouble with?

I cannot reproduce this in SVP 12 either, unless I set my mouse settings to the fastest double click speed and then it sees my double click as to “slow” clicks to perform a rename. Double check you mouse settings in the Control Panel of Windows to make sure the slider did not get bumped up for some reason.
