Upon importing, video track turns up green.

I’m using Vegas Pro 12, of course.
Whenever I import a video file (I’ve tried it with multiple files, all come up with the same result), they come out like this. The video track is green for the whole, or at least the majority, of the movie. I’ve tried importing MOV and MP4 files so far, as they’re the only kinds of file I have on my hard drive as of right now.
Is there any surefire, comprehensive method to alleviate this? I had this same problem with Vegas 11. I’m sure most other people have similar problems.

Thats a sign of corrupted or a damaged video file.

Where did these files come from? What codecs do they use? As Grazie said, use MediaInfo or GSpot to determine what codecs are being used. You may have to convert them to a format that Vegas can edit.

I’m having the same problem.
This footage was shot with the front-facing camera on my iPhone 5. I’ve filmed with my iPhone for a couple years now, so I figured it was a good idea to upgrade cameras when I got my new phone. The rear camera opens fine, but the front camera footage looks like this. Every time I convert it, the video ends up lagging behind the audio.

Visually inspect the front lens for any breakages or anomalies or blockages? Are you shooting through a protective cover? Surf the iPhone Forums for any comparable comments regarding the Front Facing camera? Return to Apple shop?

Logic switch on so we are in the realm of ducks, witches and wood.
If the rear camera works fine, then the front must be faulty. So it ain’t gunna work in any NLE. Looks like a job for Super Repairman.

The only problem was in Sony Vegas. It played back fine on Windows Media Player and on my phone. The issue was in a QuickTime update. I rolled that back to 7.7.1 and it fixed everything.

The front camera wasn’t faulty, just shot in a different format than the rear. A format that QuickTime couldn’t read, and therefore, for some reason, SV couldn’t either. I rolled QuickTime back to 7.7.1 and, voila, problem solved.

Well, that’s a new one for me! The same iPhone shoots in 2 (are there more than 2?) User Selectable formats? What formats would they be?
