Peter, here’s some more symptoms if you’re around still. the error hardly ever occurs instantly when the effect is applied. it usually takes a few minutes, then as more effects are added to the sequence, or more time line scanning is done, it pops up. seems like it would be “running out of ram”. just very annoying.

hi matthew, the thing is, i get this on new projects, new formats, new clips, new graphics. i work on promos so i go through about a dozen or so projects a week from all different sources. i’ve tried different users, different settings, etc. still it appears. i recently had it come up without a bcc effect being used. now i wonder if it’s avid.

    thank you matthew and peter,

this seems to happen across various sequences with completely different footage. (i do short promos, so each one is like a new baby). changed to various user settings also in the system, still a problem. will try to do a completly new user and trash the state and database. seems to be worse on more complex promos with a lot of fx on them, which is why my first thought went to ram memory. like i say, if i restart the system and immediatly render, i’m usually ok. it’s just a hassle!

    peter,
finally got around to re installing, and we’re at 4.2.2 on the install disk. no wording about installing 3.0, but did install upgrade from avx 1.5 to 2.0. still not working at this end. don’t see upgrading to 5.0 as an option here.

    thanks,

    hi peter,

this includes preset effects i’ve saved in a bin and brought over to the new software to use (only blank, unrecognized effects icons), and also effects in sequences created in the old avid (1.3) adrenaline–only blanks, or sometimes asked to automatically upgrade effect to avx 2.0 and the effect may look similar, but does not do the base transition between the 2 clips on video 1 (lens flares and other lights may appear though).

    thanks,

i tried to do the same thing. dvd decryptor, then a program called dvd to avi. that worked turning the vob file to avi. then, went to import the avi, and after over 12 hours overnight, only 30 percent of the movie got in. i busted it and did composite out.

someone has got to come up with a good way (and not a hack!) to do this like cd’s. yes, we shouldn’t do this with hollywood blockbusters, but more and more footage and finished programs are coming in this way. the cd import is so easy and clean, why can’t it just be this way for dvd. there is certainly the demand for it.

what would the upgrade path be for those of us that got bcc 3.0 from avid “free”. will we be charged an upgrade or is it included in avid assurance plan? thanks

so then no one is taking either the digital out of the hdmi or using this sdi adapter i’ve heard of to keep it digital. projects, footage, old movie clips and so much more are coming in dvd on an everyday basis, does anyone see a day where injest will be as easy and clean as importing audio cd’s? we in “the real world” are already ready for it.

that’s the problem, none of those lists or want ads ever list salaries, or salary ranges. they ask you to provide a range more often then not. no one can give the guy even a clue. yes, there are ranges, but let’s get some specifics.

me–from cincinnati to chicago, over 15yrs television experience currently union editor salary range with overtime 57-62,000. i know a guy in dayton ohio just starting out with a cable system who was offered 28,000.
