Set up the device: options>Preferences>Preview Device> Device pulled down option: OCHI Compliant IEEE 1394.

Click on the TV icon or alt+shift+4.

The signal will output via firewire. To see the singal on an analog monitor, you will need to run it through a converter, like the Canopus ADVC-100 or a video camera that will convert the signal out of the composite or svideo jack.

    Terry,
I would record all your “Switched Video” to DV tape. Then import the video you want to the computer. However, if you feel the Hard Drive is the best option you could use DV Rack by Adobe and record to a hard drive. I would use an external hard drive for capture. I have hooked up a switcher to DV Rack and recorded multiple sources to the hard drive. I used a canopus ADV-100 to convert from analog to digital via firewire. A firewire card cost about $30 bucks.

Thanks Ted… I am pretty confident that is the case. The sound card will do the decoding directly with digital speakers. Vegas will not pass through a encoded signal on the timeline.

    Gary,
Are you running the SPIDF connection via a coax cable to an external receiver decoding the 5.1? Can you hear the rear surround sound on the timeline?

March 19, 2006 at 12:34 am in reply to: Focus is soft

Sorry if I mislead anyone, but I recorded the video to my hard drive via DV Rack. I don’t think compression is the issue. Since the sharper images are on the background. It’s either my lens/camera or me. I shoot video all day with a SX betacam. I do the standard zoom in and focus on the eyes, etc. But the digital lens/focus I am not use to working with. Maybe I was off…

I had a production monitor and it appeared to look sharp or in focus when I focused on the eyes. I didn’t look super close at my monitor for sharpness after I pulled out from the eyes. I was 10-12 away from the subject. I was trying to achive a shallow depth of field with the IRIS. Well, I will definetly play around with this issue to figure out if its my camera or me.

    thanks,

I was hoping there was someting I was missing. I will make up a cable select adapter to force the left or right channels to the headset.

  • Ron,
Give the guy a break….. He is just asking around the differnet forums about a stabilizer. I saw his post and was curious on which one is the best to buy. If others are communicating with him then this is what the cow is for… I hope.
