Sounds like there is something wrong in either your render settings or output module settings…I would go through them carefully and make sure things like full quality etc are selected. Also, where are you viewing the rendered PNG files ??? Maybe you are importing them into another app and using the wrong import settings…just a thought

Well….if you are staff, then no, it is not unreasonable to ask you to do this…. I work at a french TV station….Each and every year I have to prepare our programming launch for the commercial reps. I have to prepare in french, then transfer over to english…of course the advantage that I have is that I am bilingual, but it still requires a lot of work….but I figure that they are paying me to do it, so I of course do it.

That said, probably the best suggestion you could make is that a dub of the hours of Spanish material be put onto a DVD with timecode burn-in so that the intepretor, or an assistant who speaks Spanish can select their clips. This would save hours in the edit suite, as you will be less likely to be searching for material. I am sure that your bosses would go for this, as an editing suite is a very expensive viewing room….

When I work with external clients, I always suggest that they do as much prep work as possible. I explain to them that it will save them money in the long run….if they decline, that is ok too, as my rate doesn’t change if the client wants to sit next to me and go through their footage.

Create a mask….make sure the layer is selected, then select one of the mask tools (The rectangle is the right one for this job), now add either a mask at the bottom to cut out what you don’t want and set the mask to substract in the timeline, or add a mask for what you want to see and makse sure the mask is set to add in the timeline. You can also create a new square solid and use it as a track matte for your image. You really do not need a filter to mask.

A soft masked white layer set to add, then using expressions use the wiggle command….should look someting like this:

wiggle(15,30)

try it out….the first number in brackets is the frequency, the second number is the range of the wiggle (0-30)…the again I am by no means all that proficient in expressions.

On the mac I believe you have to go into the region sections and drag english to the top…..then again I really don’t know macs as I am a PC kinda guy 🙂

My only guess would be that the fill is set to none in the character window, and the stroke is set to the same color as the background.

You can use the leave color filter which will allow you to target a specific color, and desaturate the other colors…this is pretty much what you said you wanted, but there is also a better way which allows for more flexibility…

I use the change color filter.

I start by duplicating twice my layer, then I apply the change color filter to the uppermost layer. I select the color, then select color correction matte from the view pulldown. Next I use this track as a track matte for the 2nd layer using luminance as the type of track matte. Now I add the Hue/Saturation filter on the bottom layer and desaturate….so basically this gives you the same look as the leave color……the big advantage to this method is that you can now tint the bottom layer or adjust it’s levels etc without affecting the color that you left….and for interesting reaults, you can transfer mode the colored layer back onto the black and white layer.

If memory serves me, at work, we went into this folder : C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects 7.0\Languages. Next right click on the file named Adobe After Effects E and see the path that the shortcut points to. Now copy that shortcut path to the shortcut path on your desktop and launch…..it should work.

I am not in front of my machine right now that I want to play on, as mine is working, but if I remember this is how we did it.

I agree with Mark…and sorry for not understanding.

Also, I prefer to do my rotoscoping of complex scenes in Photoshop, then I bring the sequence into AE for compositing…
