  • Hi,

I made chart test with both cameras. HVX200 was at 1080/24PA and detail at 0.
EX1 was set to 108024P HQ with detail at 0 and second chart with 1080P HQ detail OFF which actually looks better for me.
Both cameras were on the same tripod 8 feet away from chart and F stop was F4. You can see charts here: https://idisk.mac.com/mcichon-Public/charts?view=web

  • Hi,

I actually find EX1 and FCP workflow easier than HVX. In EX1 case transfer is faster and there is no need to convert to QT because camera records in that format so FCP just need to unwrap file that take few seconds for whatever lenght clip. SxS card goes straight into my laptop and any other new laptop. Client can download free software to watch clips.
I have Chrosziel mattebox with 4×4 and 4×5 trays with rods support that I used on HVX and now by using different step down ring I can mount it upside down and use filters on EX1. Works fine for me.
I agree that going back and forth between playback mode and record mode takes time but you can set camera return button so it will playback your last clip instantly without switching to playback mode.
There is always something about each camera that not everybody will like. I do not like that it does not have 56000K preset switch. Otherwise it is great medium size semi-professional camera.

DVCPRO HD in 1080 is being squeezed into 1080×1280 not 1440. If you create picture 1080×1280 pixels in Photoshop it will be resized to 1080×1920 in FCP timeline and it will look correct.

You can load just Content folder without txt file and export QT files with P2Log Pro.

I was doing research and LTO is fastest. I just got it and like it a lot.
Email me offboard and I will let you know how is it working. I did not use it a lot yet so I don’t have strong opinion to share on public forums yet. I will do it sometime soon though 😉

    hi there,

Use FAT32 as format for external drive. P2 cards are formatted te same and can be read on PC or Mac. I have done it before and there is no problem with file size limit.

I tested long name that would not work on your system but works on mine OK. It depends which FCP system you have. I have latest FCP 6.0.1 and that was one of the improvements they did comparing to FCP 5 that you can have longer names.
I discovered it maybe year ago and there is my post somewhere here describing same problem you have. Solution is to use short names.
