So that we can overcome some of the limitations of the HVX’s fixed lens, I’m considering the M2 adapter. In researching this unit I’ve become a bit confused. Specifically, does the HD bundle ship with a lens? Also can an HVX affixed with the M2 be used without a tripod? Thanks for any input or comments on this setup.

I use the M2 adapter and have about 4 lenses for it. the HD bundle does not come with 35mm lenses. It comes with a small lens that screws on to your HVX-200 to allow you to focus on an image about 3 inches away from the camera, the focal plane inside the M2 box.

If you are use to setting up the HVX and shooting quickly those days are over. It takes me about 30 minutes to set up the unit with HD monitors, cables, focusing, cleaning 7 different lens surfaces and stuff.

It is hard to hand hold with out a rig like the one from http://www.zacuto.com . But the image that it produces with the HVX-200 is amazing. Here is a 6 minute piece I did with the M2 and the HVX and Magic Bullet Look suite.
