<walter biscardi> I’ve been using their (AJA) products I think 5 years now (maybe longer) and all they do is just keep coming out with better products and they are continuously upgrading what we can do with our products.

    Walter,
Well I guess Matrox is on the right path. I mean the MXO2 has only been out a few months and they are already giving us nuggets of goodies that were unexpected.

[walter biscardi] Yes, it’s nice that they have this product (MXO2) out there and I know Shane Ross is having success with his (MXO2), but what Matrox is doing now is what any company SHOULD do.

    Walter,
Thank you for acknowledging Matrox as a great company! As an artist using their gear as part of my craft, I feel as though I couldn’t make a better decision.

[Walter Biscardi] It’s great to have another choice, but I love the quotes that “Matrox really cares about us” like they are developing something revolutionary by adding the conversion features.

    Hey Walter,
I think you missed my point. I meant it is good to know that a company you invested in keeps investing in us. Whether it is revolutionary or not is not the point. I’m sure the ioHD is a good product as well, but when it came to my needs the Matrox MXO2 proved to be the best! And now with the news that it is still getting better, CC support (BTW,I do think this is BIG!) Scaling on Capture…it seems my choice was the right one.
I urge all my FCP peers to give the Matrox MXO2 a real hard look. It is not only “another choice” but I’m sure for a lot of us out there it is THE choice. And the price is right 🙂

    Hey Mickey, Walter,

I completely agree with Walter, if you need a tool for this one job that can help you (granted taking some $$ out of your pocket) you must really think of what investment to make… what is the best tool.. Well I feel like a winner today.
A few weeks ago I got my Matrox MXO2 and I primarily bought it to monitor my projects via HDMI, but today I read a post that really made me feel like it is Christmas morning again!! Looks like the folks at Matrox are giving their customers more features..
    Check out this post:

    They are giving me …
1.Up/down and cross conversion on input as well as output.
2.Closed Caption support… apprently it is also preseverd during the editing process.
    3. And potentially I now have the ability to capture HD ProRes with my MBP.

These guys at Matrox seem to really care about us. Good on them!

I just got my MXO2 a few weeks ago, and WOW!! This little box rocks!
I use it at my home studio with my MacPro and the versatility of this box really is a +. I hook it up to my Sharp Aquos for my main preview monitor via the HDMI output. Most of my work now of days is delivering SD material but I shoot everything in HD. The quality of the scaler is fantastic. This is a great product, check it out.
(Jurriaan, I was thinking of getting the MXO but for the differnce in price I decided to go with the MXO2…a side benefit is that with the HDMI out I could have actually used the Sharp Aquos for work and my wife likes that.)
