Of course, it has, but when I hover my mouse over the list and scroll nothing is happening.

So it basically only tells AE which FPS to use when creating a comp from a still image? However, I don’t see why I’m able to change this value beyond 60 FPS, for example – I’m able to change it to 500.

When I play around with it, it doesn’t seem to change the FPS for a clip or anything…? Hmm… seems like Adobe doesn’t even know what this does.

  • Ok! So when working with 25 FPS, I should always change this setting to 25 FPS? I thought I only needed to change the comps frame rate, I didn’t know that it was important to change the “Default Base”-project setting!?

Also, doesn’t always the timecode in the media start at 00:00:00:00? I’ve never seen a media file that started playing at 3 seconds…?

Also, don’t worry about the mixing frame rates thing, it was only a bad theoretical situation I made up.

I don’t have any delivery specifications, I’m just curious what this setting does and when I need to use it. However, I’ll say that I work mostly with 25 FPS material. When should I theoretically change this setting?

But what if I want to composite a .mov-file containing fire against a black background? Is it a bad idea to work linearly and use “Add” to get rid of the black background? I prefer not to use third-party plug-ins, and when I use the “Extract”-effect I always end up with an something unrealistic (like a sharp edge around my object).

This is the one thing that Apple (Motion and FCPX) actually does better than AE/Premiere. In Motion & FCPX, RAM is basically only used to do the math, but everything else (rendered frames, effects etc.) is stored directly on your SSD directly after the calculations are done. I apologize for not providing a solution, but I, unfortunately, don’t have one…

Also, which one does Adobe Premiere Pro use?

Which profile would you recommend when I’m unsure which one to use? I’m creating films just for fun.
