Hi.
I can do hdmi and sdi but that is not my point.
What i want to do is import red files to my FCP timeline and play them back without rendering as i can with prorez and uncompressed.
Now i have to render before playing out and that is not the part that i like wery much. As i undrestand aja can do this … then i think BM can also and i wonder when it will happen.
My clients have now 3 main sources 35 mm on digibeta or hd, 16 mm on digibeta and RED as files. This is why i’m after realtime playback and i do not want to render 40 minutes of material 🙂

>It seems kinda nuts that a program like Motion is pissing away the opportunity to use those cores 🙁
You see my point 🙂
Mac Pro is like sports car that only goes on 2 cylinders as annother 6 are ideling. Makes you really sad 🙁

I just wonder if there is eny info if “faster” version of motion is coming out soon like in a year or so.
I guess my 8 core machine will last at least 3 years from now if
apps would support it.—

Hi.
Does not have eny point at the moment in my eyes.
I have 8 cored pro and mostly it runs on 1 – 2 cores.
The rest of cores run idle …. and ram also.—

What kind of card do you have ?
I usually make my pc uncompressed files BM 4:4:4 and it works perfect on my mac and final cut etc.
WMV is deffinetly bad idea 🙂 … not so compatible on mac even if it plays but as you sayed vlc will die on that sometimes.
Try not to mix fish and chips with big mac 🙂
Ultimate possibility is to make TIFF tga sequences and rejoin those frames in quiqtime pro and save them as one uncompressed MOV and then recompress as needed.
Hope it helps.

Hi again.
Actually i have multibridge pro 2 and i could connect it with hdmi but it does not give me 2x oversize PAL as i see it. This is why i asked about HDLink Pro.
Annother question is how to adjust Dell as out of the box they have really insane brightness and contrast levels and you could get really nice sun burn in front of them. This is why i have tryed to ask it with LUT’s how to calibrate LCD with HDLink to get reasonable results for color correcting etc. No results for that question yet.

Hi.
In technical point ofcourse it is not lossless but for applications it is something like that compared to hdv and mpg2.
I’d say even digibeta might give you some compression on its 2 to 1 ratio.

Hi.
As i see you try to build on PC.
I’d get lets say 3ware raid card for sata II and hell of a big case
and build my raid there with my pc.That’s i have done it few years ago. Ok the expandability was a bit low up to 8 drives but it is a bit cheaper eazyer to build.
