Hi.
Depending on your compression iMac should be fine if you talk new one. I would recommend external storage for it. Or MBP with external box. I have seen people editing on regular macbook on a tiny screen.

There you go with upgrade.
Usually so major updates need clean install.
Just get spare drive and install there.
It is really risky business just to update production machine just like that.
You for sure get problems and down time.—

Bigger heat pipes and vents. MB has really tiny one. Usually exess dust makes vents to go bad.

It really seems that Avid etc big ones will just die or get sold soon.

Hi.
I had pc for SD work and it used XP for that.
Just regular 3Ware hw raid. Even 2 drives striped was good to go.
AMD X2 and generally thats it.
Nvidia Quadro 1700 or something like that also.SD work does not take too much with todays computers.
If you go with BM tested motherboard and graphics you should be set.

Linux SDK maybe help here if you could see each card as separate device and could write 5 separate streams like that.

Hi.
It really depends how your workflow is built.
Some people take proxys and color them 🙂
No good.Generallt ProRes 4444 should be better than 422 YUV as i get it 4444 is rgb and has more information on it.
I usually take red material directly to color from fcp and have there the option to use iso and K values etc
and then render out what ever i like.—
