Hi,

Have you tried talking to a couple of TV station TDs and ask them if it’s at all feasible? I work for a Crown Corp here in Ottawa and when I mention to potential “partners” the non-profit aspect of certain projects, people usually go out of their way to help out.

I had forseen the hint track difference but the VBR/CBR and data rate differences definitely point to 2 separate encodes.

Thank you both. I found a stereo repair shop that can still source belt kits for both my Sony TC-377 which I need for its 1 7/8 speed and my Dokorders so if I get these machines back in working order I should be OK for a while.

Ah, the fun of “archival material”.

Thanks for the info. Just the confirmation I was hoping for.

If all my media files go onto the G-Speed array, any reason / advantage in partitioning the array or will both apps link to their repective media files without problems?

Hi,

Thank you both for you help. Confirms what I had found reading up on the subject. I now feel a bit more confident in getting the boss to drop 20+K on the new system. I will go for at least 4gb of RAM, I will source it and the drives from my local screwdriver shop. Although I’ve been using Media 100 for years and want to stick with it, the idea of having FCP on a second drive, to slowly start playing with it, sounds interesting. Opens up a few more freelance doors.

Thanks for the insights Rich, just confirms that even though they don’t update every 3 months Cleaner is still a viable option. I too like the interface and have always gotten good and predictable results. Just wanted to make sure no one app was head and shoulders above the crowd.
