Hi,
Try identifying the problem by process of elimination; borrow a better quality mic and see if it makes a difference. Certainly the easiest and cheapest way to see if it’s the mic.
Go to the office surplus store and buy 3 used fabric cubicle walls, makes a cheap, moveable “sound booth”.

March 29, 2006 at 6:49 pm in reply to: New to the forum and new to media100i – p6000 in a pc ?Hi Klaus,
For what it’s worth, I’ve had a P6000 board in a Quicksilver 2002 G4, that I keep on 12-14 hours a day, for about 4 years now and I’ve never had problems. I wouldn’t hesitate buying a used one. I tend to agree with those who suggest going with a Mac, with the right software, it would probably be up and running with minimal fuss and you’d have the ultimate hobbyist NLE that should meet your needs for years to come.

Hi,
I’ve run into similar problems and although not the best solution because of the added generation, I ended up dumping the VHS to Betacam SP an digitizing from that.

Hi,
I second John’s suggestion. I did it with Boris FX, some version of which must have come with your Media 100, a long time ago, so the details are a bit sketchy, but look in the Boris manual for the largest supported still import size (4000 x 4000 I think). That gives you plenty of room for “pans, tilts and zooms”. Don’t forget the “ease-in ease-out” parameter and the results can look pretty good.
If you don’t have Boris, you could look at Moving Picture from https://www.stagetools.com/

Hi,
Thanks for your input Floh, even though I find the Boris / Optibase (software/hardware) arrangement a little disconcerting, I also have a feeling if Boris wants to continue the Media 100 line, they will eventually have to offer some kind of PCIe solution. Getting a similar opinion from you just convinces me to definitely wait at least until NAB to see if something materializes.
Thanks,
Marc

Thanks for your response Michael, I look forward to reading your results. Sure seems like an affordable way to get HD into a Media 100 HD.

Hi,
Although I’ve never done it myself directly, the script assistants at my place just usually start with the record company/label listed on the cd jacket and go from there. I work for a non-profit art gallery in Canada and when we specify exactly what you said – “The video won’t be for sale nor will there be any admission paid to see it.” – we sometimes even get a deal. Best I’ve seen is “If you buy the CD at retail prices, and give us a credit in the credit roll, you can use a 2 minute clip, just for this one video, at no extra charge”. Hard to beat that.
Good luck,
Marc

You might want to look here : https://www.miraizon.com/
I’ve tried once or twice, not enough to give an informed opinion but it did extract video as advertized.
