If he knows so much maybe he could go to the Apple Trailer website and tell them they are insane.
The average 2.5 min trailer is 100MB in 720P and about 160MB in 1080P.
My own H.264 1080I 4 min uploads to You Tube were about 300MB and I would not call the quality great even at that size.
A 5 min 32MB 1080 or even 720 file would probably not be worth watching.

What about a WDTV or other media player?
Copy the file to a portable HDD, plug it into the player and an HDMI cable to the TV.

February 20, 2010 at 9:36 am in reply to: Playing native EX1 files on Playstation 3?

    Hello All
This used to work for PC users but I have not tried lately.

I have found a way to view nearly native clips from the EX1 on a PS3.
I say nearly native as the audio has to be rendered but not the video.
Use Clip Browser to bring clip into Vegas.
Download MXF Desktop, if you don’t have it, from Snell & Wilcox.
It is free on request via a link at DVi XDCam EX CineAlta forum.
This unwraps MXF files. It also enables MXF playback on WMP.
You will get an .m2v and 2x AES files. Rename the .m2v to .mpv.
Import the mxf into Vegas 8 Pro and render the audio to AC3.
Download and run TSMuxer. Select both the .mpv and .ac3 files.
    Create a .ts transport stream.
This can be renamed .m2t to run from a disc or drive on the PS3 or rename to .mpg if using a network connection.
I have not tested it over the network yet so not sure if 35Mb will work Ok. This could also be used to make a non rendered Blue ray disc.
Unfortunately this is long winded and does not allow editing but if you want to see video untouched by rendering it is the only way I have found. I would be much happier if Vegas would smart render.
    Cheers

June 20, 2009 at 8:33 pm in reply to: UVW1800p and rec/play issue

    Hello
Calibration needs to be done by a technician with alignment tapes.
It is true that output can vary with different brands of tape but I suspect the answer is simpler than that.
The VU meters in a VCR monitor the output connectors.
If I recall correctly the UVW Betacam machines rise 1.5dB if the output is not terminated with 600 ohms.
Do you have anything connected to the audio output connectors?
Is it a 600 ohm load or high impedance?
At the end of the day 2dB is a barely perceptable error so I would not fret too much.

Yes, it appears to be normal.
I have the SDI-HDMI converter and it runs pretty hot.

March 4, 2009 at 10:29 pm in reply to: Audio dropouts on Kona 3 to DigiBeta

Thank you, thank you, thank you Bob
I think I owe you a packet of cookies.
I nearly went out of my mind over this.

I had looped the reference through the DigiBeta to the Kona but did not discover the Control Panel setting though I had looked for one.
The symptoms were as you described occurring after 10-15 mins.
They included crackling audio and sparkling video out of the DigiBeta and steadily worsening channel condition errors.
A very few recordings worked ok but most had errors especially when played back on another machine.
A lesson learnt the hard way.
    Thanks

    Hello Gary
THe sparkles were visible on composite video out of the DigiBeta as well. It appears that all my issues were down to the lack of a reference. See my reply to Bob.
    Thanks

March 3, 2009 at 3:04 am in reply to: Audio dropouts on Kona 3 to DigiBeta

    Hello Aaron
    Thank you for the reply.
    1. I tried monitoring Video 1 out and got sparkles on that as well. They seem to be generated in the DigiBeta but they do not record on tape.
    2. No, it is on REF. I am now supplying Colour Back to both the DigiBeta and Kona card.
    3. Audio is being recorded from SDI. I have not tried AES but I guess I should try it.

I did one pass this morning with a new tape and a reference. It played back perfectly on both machines but I have not been able to repeat the feat although I am reusing tapes.
    Thanks

    Hello Jeremy
Thank you for the quick reply. I have it working now.
It just seems messy to me and requires extra tape at the start before Bars and Tone commence.
    Thanks

    Thanks Walter
I used Easy Setup again and although nothing seemed to change I replaced the file on the timeline and it now works.
