Wow, thanks for that excellent advice!

I’ll try that out. I do want this to look as good as it possibly can.

    Thanks.

Yeah, I’m still messin with the parameters as we speak. Pre-blur seems to help a little.

well, you still can’t animate a layers blending mode. Without watching the tutorial, I’d suggest splitting the layer the moment the blades intersect; and then setting the separate layer to Lighten. If you still don’t get the result you’re after, maybe you’ll have to isolate the blades with a mask or a key.

“…achieving an imitation employing an imitation…”

    Ummmm…yeah

Imagine that my budget is a rat. Now imagine this rat poor and starving in the cold. This is the best I can do with what I have at the moment.

I know, it’s not the best way to go about things =P

    Wow, thanks Jens!

I’m using AE Pro 7, hopefully this version of cc particle world isn’t too old?

I’ll definitely try that out today at work.

Nice to see that you guys are on it.

Well, if I were to do this the right way; I would shoot the characters in front of a green screen and key them in.

I don’t have the facility to do that at this point.

Now, this is stop action; but I’m shooting fewer frames in order to speed up the process a bit. I don’t have hours to shoot frame by frame animation. So, I’m gonna snag the key posses and then fill in the gaps with this effect.

And yes, I realize that there is going to be extra work in post by doing it this way.
