  • A simple question about cc particle

I’m still trying to get a hang of all the controls.

I’m creating little fairy dust bits that I want to float around the screen.

It’s all working out pretty good but they are moving WAY to fast and I can’t seem to slow them down.

Logic would dictate that the velocity would slow them down? IT just seems to spread them apart.

    Please help an aggravated soul.

Also, I have AE Pro 7, but I do not appear to have the same particle controls set as in the help file. For example, in the the help it talks about adjusting force, direction, and affects; where in actuality, I only have one simple gravity control to adjust.

I’m getting the feeling that this has been asked before and that I’m missing something painfully obvious.

You’re right, I can’t slow it down either.

It sounds a little lame, but you could always Time Stretch you footage, 200% slows the particles by half.

oh Well, at least I don’t feel like such an idiot.

Dang, I need to buy Trapcode.

Unfourtunately I have no money and shall just do the ol’ time stretch for now.

    Thanks Mike.

Wow, that’s really odd. Several controls that I expected to find and tweak are simply NOT THERE. spooky.
I spent many hours with Particle World during the Final Effects and Studio Effects days (some of Total Training’s initial offerings) and I THINK I recall being able to control all that stuff. Maybe not, that was a long time ago. Brian Maffitt had hair back then.

I wonder if anyone at Cycore cares any longer about their orphaned effects.

Yeah, well I was a bit confused because those controls were in the help file.

    Some help that was!

Ok, we are awake in Sweden now so let’s take a look.
First off, it appears you are running an older version of CC Particle World which I don’t have on my machine but no worries. (With the newer version you would have used the Resistance control)

Good thing you included a snapshot of your settings.
You are using the Viscouse animation mode in which case the Extra control defines the resistance.
However, you have set this control to a negative value. This translates into negative resistance, meaning that the particles will accelerate and speed up. So what you are seeing is understandable.

Setting the Extra control to a positive value would slow down the particles gradually instead and that I assume would solve the problem.

    We certainly do!
    They are constantly being updated.
Particle World for example, has changed significantly which you would notice if you could run the old FE version today! (which you might be able to do on Win?)

CycoreFX is very much alive and we are dedicated to keep on improving it.

    Wow, thanks Jens!

I’m using AE Pro 7, hopefully this version of cc particle world isn’t too old?

I’ll definitely try that out today at work.

Nice to see that you guys are on it.

Alright not so old then 😉
It’s almost 2 years since that version left our hands. Things have changed since.

It’s not very often we post on COW since there are so many experienced users on COW that answers CC questions before we have a chance!
    We monitor COW constantly though.

    Cheers,
