So, trying to simulate a time-lapse using a pseudo stop action.

Okay, this is pretty rough being that it’s a test, but you can see the fore arms are on their own layers.

    screen shot

So, I was planning on key framing them with the rotation tool (pretty simple) But I’d like the arms to have a kind of half opacity ghost following them.

I know I could do this by duplicating the layer, but I was hoping to achieve this with an effect or two.

This is what I’m trying to achieve at the end of the process only I’ll be using stop motion for the characters instead of live footage. Don’t laugh! This is just a test!

Anyway, any suggestions/thoughts would be appreciated.

Refresh my memory: why don’t you just shoot stop-motion?

Well, if I were to do this the right way; I would shoot the characters in front of a green screen and key them in.

I don’t have the facility to do that at this point.

Now, this is stop action; but I’m shooting fewer frames in order to speed up the process a bit. I don’t have hours to shoot frame by frame animation. So, I’m gonna snag the key posses and then fill in the gaps with this effect.

And yes, I realize that there is going to be extra work in post by doing it this way.

    > So, trying to simulate a time-lapse using a pseudo stop action.< Interesting statement, achieving an imitation employing an imitation. Still image photography with 1/8 or 1/4 second exposures. Careful direction. Bracketing. bogiesan This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

“…achieving an imitation employing an imitation…”

    Ummmm…yeah

Imagine that my budget is a rat. Now imagine this rat poor and starving in the cold. This is the best I can do with what I have at the moment.

I know, it’s not the best way to go about things =P
