That problem suggests to me that V6 has the same MPEG2 rendering engine as V5.0d
I do not know whether this applies to you but I was doing some MPEG2 tests yeserday, checking the render settings between V4, V5.0b and V5.0d
One of the settings in V5 is different to V4. This under Sytem tab on render settings. Audio buffer size is set at 4Kb in V4 but zero in V5. You cannot change it.There again, this may be a red herring.The main thing I found is that I can render MPEG2 successfully if I render VBR. I didnot notice this because I always render CBR.
So it cannot be my PC system that’s faulty. CAN IT?Regards

It seems there are only THREE of us are having problems. I have still have not downloaded V6 because I did not think the prob would be fixed.
Even if it was fixed in V6.0a Yoyodyne, what are the odds on having same prob appearing with V6.0b or c!!I am seriously considering reverting from 5.0d to 5.oa as that was the most stable version for me.
I might download DVDA3 to see if the menu text has improved from DVDA2.
I still use DVD workshop becuse menu text is flicker free compared to DVDA2.Regards

I am sitting here wondering whether I should go for V6 trial or sort out MPEG2 render problem with 5.0d
Here’s what happens.
Render as PAL DV template
Select CBR and render stops around 5000 frames with indeterminate error.Select VBR and it behaves itself and renders.
As I ALWAYS use CBR, I had not noticed this.
Please please, someone tell me there is something simple that’s broke.

I do not like surprises Barend. Not if $249 produces more problems than it solves.
I see from the spec for V6, it still supports win2K. I wonder if that is true???Regards

I sincerely hope that works for you Barend. I cannot render straight PAL-DV AVI to MPEG2.

Judging by the ephoria going on in the forums about the impending V6 release, yes, we are the only three in the whole wide world with a problem!
I am in the lucky position because I still have V4 and that renders nicely.
I thought it was my OS, W2k SP4. I do not know what OS you are using Barend but Yoyodyne is using XP so it cannot be the OS.I wonder what else is common?

No, I have not been able to identify the problem – except that it’s 5.0d. I reported the problem to Sony Support but as yet I have not had a response.I have 2 problems with V5. When I upgraded to 5.0b, I started getting occassional PTT problems which I can live with. The advice was upgrade to 5.0d. Now I cannot render to MPEG – that I cannot live with.

I am having the same problem since I upgraded to 5.0d. My render stops at around 140Mb.
I am using windows 2000 service pack 4.Regards
