    Hey, it’s a bit late here but I found this thread via Google

    … what do you use the mount the dt454 to the gh2? It seems to me it is designed for the size of the Canon cameras and probably won’t let you change batteries on a gh2 without removing; is that right?

    I don’t have it in front of me, and it would take a while to explain;

    but you should look for a tutorial on parameter linking in Motion, and see if you can track back to what we said earlier in the thread. The idea would be to get the offset value to change itself automatically based on the type size, so it’s always appearing to scale from the middle. In the Link Parameter behaviour you have the option to multiply the the parameter you are linking to by some number, and this is where you’ll have to experiment with some decimal number that will be the correct offset factor. Like I said it will be different for each font cause they have different actual character heights relative to their type point size.

    I’m not sure that’s possible, unless you are using Motion 4, then you could apply a parameter linking behaviour to the offset value on the text, which is linked to type size. It would require some arbitrary multiple factor in the behaviour as well, to get it right and this would be different for every font I think.

    Jon, your answer is the first to get the original question.

    However I’ve just been working on the same problem and I would qualify a few points:

    1. Codecs out of FCP are “automatically” recognized by AE as to their profile. You can’t select it in the interpret footage dialogue. That’s my experience with DV25/50 and ProRes.
    2. Therefore the handling of the color space is all down to the Color Management settings in the project settings, and in that case you need to set your working space to 16-235 (whether SD or HD), and
    3. in order to AE to be able to *see* superwhite or superblack values you have to be in 32bit mode. Even 16bit mode still clips them off regardless of your working space.

  • Looking further at this today, I tried installing a Custom Effect from Eran Stern using Maltaanon’s PolyCE AIR installer application;

    Install reports as being successful, but I get the same “Missing:” text in front of the effect name when I apply the animation preset. So it’s not just my own CEs.

    Something is broken with Custom Effects in CS5 I think…anyone else care to try this and compare?

    April 21, 2010 at 9:03 am in reply to: Can I resize HD footage in SD timeline?

    I use the Resize effect.

    I’m not sure if what Job says is right; it looks pretty decent over here.

    I drop 720p items in to the SD timeline and I can resize them up to about 133% before noticing any degradation vis a vis the other SD shots

    Thanks Dan,

    how about the “–” operator?

    would I translate ((--t)*(t-2) - 1) in to ((t-1)*(t-3) - 1) ?

    Hi David,

    can you confirm that those models will work with Media Composer? I’ve just started looking in to this and notice that many users seem to have trouble making usb mics work with MC…

    thx

    Thanks Dan,

    that did the trick for the task at hand — indeed, since it’s only between 0 and 1 it’s simpler…

    I’m back to it.
