    Mike,

I run 2 x 23″ Apple Cinema Displays and a Sony 40″ via HDMI through a Blackmagic Eclipse in one suite and 3 x 23″ ACD’s using the additional DVI port on a Blackmagic Multibridge Extreme in another. Both work very well. Not the cheap solution but I agree with Shane that a capture card is your best option and I think will prove much more useful in the long run.

    No worries Ben.

The long posts nearly always get ignored, so it was great to have some response, even if it was intended for something completely different. The control surfaces look interesting though.

February 18, 2008 at 4:54 pm in reply to: Insert edits over-running…

I had this issue in ‘Editing’ mode this week too.

We were using an AJA KONA card and RS-422 remote through SDI to a SD DigiBeta deck. It was on a clients kit so don’t have the chance of checking settings now. (I will forward a link to this thread though)

We had 2 suites and ‘Edit 1’ was working fine and dropping edits without this problem but we had to do a rush output from ‘Edit 2’ had a few seconds of black added to the insert. Odd.

    Thanks Mark,

I had poked around the forum and found some bits of info on Time Lapse but was principally concerned about the length of clip I was looking to create and how best to process it for the Time Lapse.

Your suggestions were along the lines I was thinking so your confirmation of that was useful. The DSLR route is a great idea and would work well for this project so I will make the suggestion to the client.

    Many thanks,

    Thanks Glenn,

I knew it had to be there somewhere. I was looking in all the wrong places.
Now I feel a bit of a ‘ninny’ (as we Brits like to call ourselves when making our selves look stupid) Like I said I’m new to Motion.

    Thanks Chuck.

When I had Googled the extensions everything did look pre or early OS X.

My client claims some of the fonts came up with icons she could load easily into Font Book. Do you know of an extention I could edit the files to look like and trick Font Bookw into trying to open them or will this just not work?

Is there a way I can break down a specific sequence to find the tapes that were used for that sequence.

I am working on a project with 800 tapes across 3 suites and just need the handful of tapes that made the sequence in question. Rushes and Cuts are stored in different projects to enable some kind of media management.

    Thanks for your respose

October 26, 2006 at 8:32 pm in reply to: XDCAM HD TV project on FCP

Thank you David, Mike and Wayne for your responses. All very good advice.

Wayne – the B-Roll material will be shot for the series so we do have the option to go HDV. We have a couple of Z1’s and are looking at the Sony HDR – HC1 HDV Camcorders for ‘Video Diary’ material. Would these be the kind of cameras you’d suggest?

I know I’m going to have to look at an upgrade of some of my hardware to HD, but did like the idea of just dragging the footage off disk rather than digitize, as we tend to have something like a 1:75 shooting ratio on these projects!! (I don’t shoot them just cut them)

    Thanks again all.
