I’ve been working with Final Cut for a number of years but have only recently stated playing around with Motion.

A piece I’ve been working on required a garbage matte so I could crop out a section of a still image and animate it. I did this to some extent in FCP but I can’t seem to find anything that can do this even at a basic level in Motion. The only plugins I’ve found on this forum seem to be relating to keying rather than shape mattes.

    Any ideas greatly appreciated.

I’m a little confused. There is a matte button right on the main tool window, right next to the shape creator button. I use it all the time for garbage mattes.

    Thanks Glenn,

I knew it had to be there somewhere. I was looking in all the wrong places.
Now I feel a bit of a ‘ninny’ (as we Brits like to call ourselves when making our selves look stupid) Like I said I’m new to Motion.
