  • Decompose Sequence to identify tapes

Posted by Luke Price on October 19, 2007 at 1:52 pm

I have a sequence where about half the media has been deleted in error. I now need to move the sequence and existing media to a new location and just want to take the tapes I need to re-digitize the missing stuff.

How do I identify the tape names of the missing media? In Avid there is an option to Decompose a sequence and one can look in the bin of clips that make up the sequence what is offline and batch digitize those clips back in. How do I do this in Final Cut.

    Many thanks

Is there a way I can break down a specific sequence to find the tapes that were used for that sequence.

I am working on a project with 800 tapes across 3 suites and just need the handful of tapes that made the sequence in question. Rushes and Cuts are stored in different projects to enable some kind of media management.

    Thanks for your respose

Just to be clear, the column is marked ‘Reel Name’ in the browser.

If your are looking for a decompose like feature… use the “Create Master Clips” command in the Tools menu. All the clips used in the sequence will show up in a folder in the browser…the offline ones will have a line through them.

Thanks John it was the ‘Create Master Clips’ step that I was missing. Thanks for your help and time too Jeremy.
