    Hi Steve,

Thanks I’ll try that and let you know if it makes a difference. For the moment I switched to rendering the text as a PNG layer in photoshop, which seems to work fine. Only text layers appear to be affected if that helps.

    Hi Graham,

You asked me if it “cured” the issue. Hence my reply. Sorry if I misunderstood.

    Hi Graham,

It’s a work around, not a cure, and not a very helpful one it takes almost 10 times longer to render and over 100 times the file size.

    Cheers

Uncompressed AVI doesn’t seem to be affected.

I also tried adjusting most of the rendering setting one at a time and the problem still occurs on mp4
    higher bitrate
    number of slices 1, 4, 32
    reference frames 4, 1, 10
    profile: Main, High and Baseline
    disabling progressive download
Enabling allow source to adjust frame rate

Yep, just took a closer look at your video, looks like that’s exactly what’s happening. https://prntscr.com/kybhmd

Check your edit timeline for the mask, I think you maybe “animating the mask” vegas automatically chooses to edit certain events from the frame at which you had the slider on when you made the edit. If you open the edit window for the clip, you should see little diamond shapes along a line near the bottom of the window, if one of these is not right at the beginning, try sliding it to the start, see if that helps.

new yes! novice no, simply because someone is new to something does not nessaserily mean that they know nothing about it?

all computer programs of an advanced editing nature (flash, cubase, wavelab, soundforge, vegas, adobe premire) share alot of simulairties. once you are good with one or more of these programs it becomes relatively easy to pick up the next.

or at least this is what i’ve experienced!

come now lol novice user? my dear good man that word is somewhat offencive… begginer would probably be better suited, and as to say ive been working with various media formats for over 12 years, someone could hardly call me a novice! and as to pilot error? well if it is so then why has the program always done this? i only installed it recently… Im more familiar with adobe premire and have only moved to using vegas recently as i have been told good things about it. i.e. it’s ease and efficiency over adobe.

please forgive me for when I get somewhat frustated i can find it hard to explain my situation thus sometimes complicating matters futher, but i would more think this a lack in personality attributes rather then something that depends on my level of skill with a software program.

but if your really looking to extend your knowledge of my logic please be my guest, i’m more then happy to oblige.

although in the middle of writing this post i have fixed the problem and feel i bit stupid for not doing it earlier! i guess everybody needs alittle nudge in the right direction sometimes! so yes i guess it was down to pilot error after all. i’m man enough to accept when i am wrong although what escapes me is what exactly i changed?

I went through the options and just clicked default all for everything and then when through and changed everything back to the way i had set it up before ie no frames and disable preview while rendering etc. and bobs your uncle no more dilema… so it still eludes me as to what exactly it was causing this self inflicted malfunction.

maybe this is advice we should all remember for the future if you get stuck…. Go back to the drawingboard. 🙂

    good day gentlemen

i wish you well on your endevors and thank you for your time.

    Luke
