i have to try, but if you use hdiutil compact and drag your xxx.imagesparse file, i should resize it to its real usage.

The new fcpx thinks like this way for media structure, except that i can open my fcp 7 project with premiere cs5.5 losing only my effect editing and not the rest with xml. the problem is that i’m in love with avid composer window, the scrub responds perfectly… We own arri alexa, and really i don’t know if it is possible to link ama volume to apple prores 444, we use a raid 1+0 of 12 TB per year, and i dont want to consolidate every finished project, but i know sometimes avid dont recognize the ama volume, still is this an issue? i know there are too many question, but i only trust in editor’s experience.

i’m also interested in avid solution, i’d like to know if you can import xml from fcp, or only EDLs… on the other hand if it’s possibile to organize projects in single folders and not in Hard disks. We were used to create a folder of the project/client and the subfolfers for capture, external media, vfx, sound editing, color corretion, ecc… in that way we were able to backup an entire tv format only copying the main folder…
The question is, how much i have to reorganize my workflow? -

I work as a director/camera operator/DP in a medium video company offering national tv format and spot in italy, however i started as motion designer in after effects:)
As you can see, doing too may things here (italy) is the common practice, after years i need to specialize myself, but i cant find a course, after doing several ones, that go in deep in lightning, or better in the construction of the frame (lenses+camera+lightning).
I’m sure, looking to others colleagues, i need to spend some of my time abroad, speaking of and wieving different workflows engaged, as i sad, in the construction of the frame and try to “slide” my works activities towards cinematographic/commercials style and leave television.
I will appreciate to know the specification of the course in San Francisco -

I know him, just a year ago i bought the complete dvd trainig series.
However i’m looking for something more specific; i.e. what kind of lenses are usually used with redone, arri d-21, ect… what kind of light to obtain different moods using this kind of lenses, what’s the post-production workflow for color correction? -
A question: if you use a light meter,i.e. i use a sekonic 398 deluxe III, how have i to set up it when i use ND filters? There a slide called HIGH, but i cant tell how much is filtering the light…
If you say that there are 3 stops with 1/8 and the hvx200 is 320 iso, can i switch to 1280 iso for a proper translated reading? -
When i create dvd from hd p2, the only thing i do is to use compressor, and the preset dvd best quality 90 minutes. Compressor does a good job for the downconversion. Or you can output the sequenze on a p2 card via camera or deck, and then from the camera dubbing on a mini-dv, it seems to me a little better than dropping the sequence in a dv settings sequence and then print to video.

Do you mean that in avid i only need to import fcp xml project?
