I was near to get a heart attack few days ago, not able to render a quite simple project, and this dirty trick helped me out, and since then I run V14 with V13 FileIO, without issues so far.
I also reported to Magix what I did and why, and do hope they’ll be able to fix the bugs 😉

For me Vegas 14 is in “c:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 14.0”
Vegas 13 is in “c:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 13.0”
Under those folders are “FileIO Plug-Ins” folders.

My vegas 13 is the build 545, this is the Magix build of Vegas 13.

The easyest way is if you have a file manager like total commander. Make sure that both Vegas are closed, not running. Run the file manager with admin rights, and rename the “FileIO Plug-Ins” folder in Vegas14 to something else, say “FIOP”, just in case. Then copy the same named folder from the Vegas13 folder to Vegas14 folder. Start Vegas14 as normal, and try if it works for you. I did this way.
If something goes really wrong, close Vegas 14, delete the “FileIO Plug-Ins” folder, and rename the original fileio “FIOP” to “FileIO Plug-Ins”, so you’ll have the original state.

What are the symptoms?
If CPU/GPU usage drops to zero, render does not progress, videocard behaves weird, maybe aero stops working?
And on subsequent render attempts the PC gets down onto knees?
I experienced the similar phenomenon, and having a brave idea, I replaced the fileIO plugins of Vegas14 with the ones from Vegas13. (I backed up the originals of course :))
After that everything works smooth and well in Vegas 14 😉

What seems to be possible is to copy/paste.
If you copy something to clipboard in Vegas 14, that is possible to paste in Vegas 13. (I tried ;))
So on timeline in V14 ctrl-A, ctrl-C, then ctrl-V in V13.
That brings all your events and event properties (and if locked to events, envelopes) into V13 (not sure about all effects, the basic effects work).
Then the track keyframes need the same: track motion -> select all keyframes, ctr-C, then in V13 paste them to the according track.
Composite levels and track compositing mode need manual adjustment, I guess.

Hi,

I had some problem now with my .mts files from my JVC HM600.
One of them I recorded today was long, over an hour, about 16GB in size.
After I edited, Vegas14 crashed, bringing down even my PC when I wanted to render.
The symptoms were similar to what we encountered with .mxf, and .m2t files, but now with my mts.
As a last chance (because I needed to render) I replaced Vegas 14 File IO plugins with those from Vegas13.
It works.
And it healed my problem for now.
I checked back, and reopened the project that was impossible to open with Vegas14.
Now, with the file IO plugins from Vegas13 everything seems to work fine (I’m so lucky… :)).

I’ll report the case for Magix too.
Seemingly, Magix fixed some bugs in Vegas, and placed few other in fileIO.

But it has a scripting engine which makes things doable, otherwise impossible.
And this is uniqe, I’m not aware of any other NLE having this flexible feature 😉

Oh, I see.
If they are pulled down equally, just select them, and pull back on one, the other selected will follow.
If they are diffrent, So for example -6dB on “A” -3dB on “B” and 0 dB “C”, then if you select all, just can’t pull up more.
May be there are other technique, but I’m addicted to Vegasaur Qucik properties.
If you don’t have it yet, download and install.
Select all your audio events you want to reset the gain for, and open Vegasaur menu, then “Editing” menu, and from there choose “Quick properties”!
Go to the “Events” tab, check “Gain” and set it to 0dB. Then hit “Apply” and you are done ?

If you don’t have Vegasaur, you can download it from vegasaur.com. It works for 30 days as trial, then you have to buy it.
(It well worth the price ;))
