I’m sorry, I messed up the link with copy/paste.

Now I don’t try to make it clickabel, just put here:
    https://lags.leetcode.net/codec.html

So from here you can download lagarith.
I like it, because it compresses well, it is lossless, and extremely fast, and can use RGB (computer) colors
For sreencaptures, and intermediate renders I always use lagarith.

[Stefan Schramm] “the pictures are portrait 4:3 images that don’t fill the screen.”

Aaah! Without actually seeing, I never would think of that ?

    Anyway, I’m glad I could help 😉

    Hi,

I never really used Edius, just tried it. That time It was 5.0 I think.
[Ron Whitaker] “Oh, and as far as price for Edius, I found it here on BH Photo for $474, cheaper than Vegas’ $599.”
That’s at least comparable for those who don’t have anything bought yet ?

[Ron Whitaker] “in the latest (8.22) Edius does all the above, and then some: importing media, 4k, editing, dvd authoring. Done!”

So you say, Edius can now prepare DVD (Bluray?) with menus, multiple angles, audio tracks on a disc?
    That is really competitive 🙂

October 7, 2016 at 7:24 am in reply to: maximize volume on all audio clips.

    Hi,

In the first step I would normailze those events.
You can select the audio events (as many you want), then right click one of the selected.
Then select from the upcoming menu “switches / normalize”.

Another technique I used to use is collect these audio events into a track and apply “track compressor” to that track.
The settings of compressor is is dependent of the contents, but I always select “smooth saturation” option, attack time between 0 and 10 ms, release between 250..500 ms.
“Threshold” and “amount” depends highly on the content, typically between -15..-26dB, and 4 to 12 respectively.
The lower the threshold is, the sooner the amplification steps in. The higher the amount is, the higher the maximum amplification is done.

This seems to be a very nice program. Thanks for mentioning, I was not aware of it.
However, this is not a gui for ffmpeg, but a standalone program, which uses ffmpeg libraries. (Like VLC player).

    Hi,
I used to use shift-M in Vegas10 (selective prerender) very frequently.
In V14 I need it much less ?
That does not require a new track, renders the selected portion of timeline to a preview file.
I always use lagarith for that purpose, but I guess other codecs do it as well…

    Hi Ron,

Good luck with Edius! Indeed, it is an awesome editor.
But it’s a different priced product.
Sure is, when I started up as a videographer, that time I considered more options.
Edius would have cost the double I paid for Vegas pro, and it is an editor only. Vegas covered my complete workflow from importing media, editing, and dvd authoring.
I don’t know how the prices compare today, but I stick with Vegas until I can.
If I ever leave it, it will be something for which is not tied to windows (nor mac).

Thank you for your kind words, and you’re welcome ?
The very hard work is done by the developers of ffmpeg, and they give it free to everyone. I won’t accept money for something I did based on the free ffmpeg, using an also free great tool (namely Lazarus).
ffmpeg has tremendeous options (and I don’t know all of them), I believe, if all of them would appear on a single GUI, that GUI would be overwhelmed. So I don’t think it is possible to cover all ffmpeg options in a gui, which is still useable.
This webm converting work needs only few options of
    ffmpeg.
I believe, the required options are accessible now for you, for this task. ?
Regarding the other task you mentioned, it is the concatenating. And yes, ffmpeg can do that ?
I can take that job too, but next week only.

  • I thought just render a 10 minutes chunk and try to make it corrupt intentionally.
If you can do it only having NBFX on the effects chain, then the problem surely is there.
Can you change your VGA drivers? If you have the latest installed, maybe you could try an older WHQL certified.
(I’ve seen years ago, that a WinXP pro, was unable to serve RDP connection, until a correct video driver was installed.)
I don’t use NBFX plugins, so don’t know… but as an external stuff it may use -probably malfunctioning- GPU/Directx functions , despite you disbled it in Vegas everywhere…

Meanwhile I made my desktop to be available via rdp.
This was kind of hacking, as it is W7 home premium, and it is disabled to act as RDP server by default, I’m not even sure it’s legal what I did. But I did this just for couriosity ( however in some situations I find it useful :))
The thing is, that both Vegas 13 and 14 started without problem via RDP. (I won’t use them so, but they started, empty project is there, playhead is movable)
    Screenshot: ?

What if you remove NBFX temporarily? Does Vegas start over RDP then?

    Best regards
