December 27, 2016 at 9:41 am in reply to: Vegas 12 and Sound Editing (errors, crashes, codecs)This is the second post complaining about v12 audio problems after many years of working well. Is there a windows update, that conflicts with v12?

Hi,
I was very long with v10, and stopped there. I was simply happy with it, never ever any problem…
I just upgraded to v13 when Magix made the deal (I never used v12), I can tell that I was not very pleased with any build of v13 regarding stability.
However v14 works great again.
So if you are hit by a bug in v12 -which can happen- try v14. The trial is free, does not ruin previous versions installed, and is fully functional for 30 days (and no watermarks on rendered video.)You can open the same project file, just make sure to have a backup: once you save the project with v14 you won’t be able to reopen it in v12. So have a backup of the project file, so there will be a return if you don’t want v14.
Regarding premiere vs vegas, I think everone should work with the tool he can do his best. If it is premiere, go on. (Just don’t dream it will be free of hiccups :))I agree, that Magix support is so slow, that it’s basically useless if you are in a hurry.
(takes about a week to get the firstanswer from them)Best regards

So if you playback the timeline, audio is correct everywhere? If you render it to Mainconcept the audio -espaecially wav- behaves weird?
Do you render with GPU enabled?
What if ( just as a workaround) you render the audio to an intermediate, and use that on a single audio track?Best regards

Hi,
If you open that project does not Vegas pop up for missing files?
I can think of 2 situations when Vegas can’t find a file:
Once I moved the whole project, but for some reason Vegas wanted to open few of the footages from the original directory.
On the mentioned popup window I selected “search for…”, and selected the “replacement” file (which was the original file on the new location).Once I used a music file, that I stored on a network drive, and I opened the project before that drive was remapped.
Just closed the pop up window, closed the project without saving, remapped the drive, and opened the project, and everything was there.Did you perhaps have some of your media on external/network drive? Did you perhaps move/rename your project folder?

Hi,
Go to your profile, and on the left below your avatar look for “Edit profile”.
Then on the “Core” tab, scroll down fully. You’ll find bottom somewhere in the middle “Change your account e-mail”.
I think this is what you are looking for.Best regards

Hi Paul!
Thanks for your kind words, but I don’t feel as a marvel. ????
If we both were thinking about an efficient way to push that hundred tons rock out of the way to the cave, we both would invent the wheel, without knowing each other :)))
Over 10 years with Vegas behind me I already have some experience, and developed, learned few things how to do. I know, I still have a lot to learn ☺I don’t use a separate sound recorder, but always trick the good sound into my cameras. I attach to the local sound system via cables or transmitter, or set up my own microphones near the stage, or do both, combining them and mix in post. If it’s only live performance, my own mics sometimes do better job (not always), if the performance is on a prerecorded material -say the talent(s) dance to a music- I always ask for the CD/mp3/Wav/ etc. they used, and use that as part of my audio track (of course I have to sync it properly as well).
I think in my praxis this situation is the closest to what you call double system recordnig?
Anyway, I have to sync quite a few times, and it never takes that much time, compared to the time my other editing tasks take, it is negligible. In my previous post I forgot to mention that sometimes there may be another method for syncing, this is the visual method using the video tracks. That may work too. ☺
Once I had the luck, that someone shot a photo just after I started my cams, so that flashlight got recorded on both cams. It was a stage recording, and in the dimmed light that flashlight was very well noticable, and provided me an excellent sync point 🙂Best regards

Wow, thanks for that! Nice catch! :)))
In build 161 it was not there, I didn’t notice it appeared.Best regards

[Dave Haynie] ” I didn’t see any CPU/GPU option in Vegas 14… either it’s not there at all, or they finally don’t show it if it can’t help.”
That option is there, just hidden by default. Look up in Option/preferences menu. Hold shift-ctrl while clicking “preferences”, and there will be a tab “Internal”. Do a search for “GPU” and set “Allow GPU Rendering” to true.
This will allow the GPU related render option to show up.
For me in the V14 the GPU rendering itself was enabled by default, just the option was hidden.Best regards
