February 24, 2009 at 3:58 am in reply to: Log & Capture HDV as Pro Res OR just set render tab to Pro Res after the fact?hey raphael
thanks for the response – the last option is what i was goign with and am just going to stick with that. in that its a long form doc i guess what u are saying is that i should only change the render tab to pro res when its time to render out a final locked edit…thank you

Hello Chris
thnaks for the fast reply sire – much appreciated.
Only question I have is just exactly how to do this process in AE and what things I need to be aware of when importing these dpx sequences and the nexporting out a tiff…If i only need one frame how exactly do I just export that one frame?
I forgot to mention that I hardly know how to use AE!!!
thank you for your ime and any advice would be awesome

February 19, 2009 at 4:59 pm in reply to: 720×486 sequence >conversion to 640×480 in order to correct stretching?!Hello
The stretching is most noticeable in the product shot at the end but honestly throughout the whole spot this issue can be seen.
i guess whats throwing me off is the fact that I am getting assets which match my sequence in every way but when i export the full res qt file its stretching things out. In the meantime i will just continue exporting with conversion in order to make it 640×480 and correct the issue – it just seems strange to me and I so desperately want to know why this is happenning.
thank you for the fast response
best

February 19, 2009 at 7:04 am in reply to: Strange Jittery effect when playing back AE rendered QT file in FCP on NTSC Monitor?!Hey there
thanks for the reply – i will ask the animator and check the filter idea tomorrow to see if it helps – and obviously if that IS the issue make sure he renders lower fields…but like i said in my post i checked in the fcp browser to see the info about the file and it says its lower fields so iam pretty sure that is NOT the issue.
to answer your question though – NTSC 720×486 uncompressed 10-bit is lower fields – CCIR 601.
The only other thing i forgot to mention was that the sequence once rendered was nested in order to add a widescreen filter 1;78;1 i believe to just give it that ltrbx look but that should not as far as i am aware cause this issue.
anyone else have some ideas – going to sleep now hoping for a miracle tomorrow : )
