    •Video Compression Type/Codec: H264
    •Video Bitrate: 7500 kbits/sec
    •Frame Rate: 29.97 fps
    •Size: 720×486 (If source material is 720×486)
720×480 (If source material is 720×480)
    •Audio Codec: AAC (aka MPEG-4)
    •Audio Sample Rate: 48kHz
    •Audio Bitrate: 192 kbits/sec

The source qt file i have is 1920×1080 full resolution / quality and normally i would just use qt pro to do the ltrbx and h.264 conversions but i would really like to try out the option in compressor which allows for preserving the color space…its a very noticeable color switch when its converted in qt pro.

Thanks for your help i look forward to getting your advice on how to make this happen properly in Compressor – again i want to match the specs and ltrbxing that qt pro does but while preserving color.

    Hello

I have the latest version of compressor – so i guess my remaining question is: when i bring a 1920×1080 qt file down to 720×486 all i have to do is ltrbx check to preserve aspect ratio – if i want to EXACTLY match that ltrbxing how would i do so in Compressor?

    Thank you

  • iam sorry for mac i dont see quick time codecs in any of these links?

maybe iam looking in the wrong place?

  • awesome thank you!

  • I cant seem to find it when i google it – can either of you guys help me with a link? its always so annoying to have to convert to animation for everyone to use these qt files!?!

this also happens to me with stuff the i capture at 10 but uncompressed (black magic) ae guys and producers a like cant seem to ever atch them and when i try to give them my codecs it still does not work – i believe outside of fcp these files should be viewable with the proper downloaded codecs – whether it be blackmagic / p2/ pro res etc…i would love to get a good link for all of those in order to put the codecs on ae / maya / and producers comp’s – both PC & Mac

If anyone has info let me know

  • dvcpro on a mac – people trying to view them down in quikctime but cannot – thought giving them my codecs for quicktime would resolve the problem and in the past it has but this time not – what could be going on?

Thanks for your responses – i;ll look into the AE update as well

I too have had great success with that method – whether it be digibeta or hdcam sr or hdv (which has a sperate functionality for this based on every time u press record)

I would agree with the others that using capture now with the proper settings is a great way to solve this issue – if it does not work the way u like then try other things.

  • Hey shane thanks for the quick response much appreciated.

I did not know my library codecs were a breach of contracts or in ANY way violating something…as a freelancer i have seen it to be a fairly common process in order to simply view files in quicktime – its not caopying programs or anything like that it is simply for everyone else to be able to use and watch down in quicktime…i just used qt pro to transcode the files to animation and yes it did make the file size larger but i dont see any loss in quality in the footage.

thanks and if you or any one else has thoughts on this please feel free to chime in : )

March 4, 2009 at 3:39 am in reply to: Masking a color correction filter?

thanks for the responses – the logo and type are one .psd file which i added a cc filter to in order to de-saturate to exactly what the creative director wanted.

The vignette is another psd file which i added to the top layer over the entire 30 sec piece… the filter is affecting the color of red of the logo in the bottom of the frame

I am not sure I know how u would do a travel matte – can u expand a little on this? Use the alpha of the logo to matte any other footage?

    thank you for your time
