December 8, 2013 at 12:48 am in reply to: Recommended Lens for Filming a Wedding from a FAR distanceHi Joe,
Thanks for reminding me. I had on my list of things to get “A rock solid tripod”…. 🙂 I’ve never really had a GREAT tripod, but I need for this wedding to look really good, so I’m gonna bite the bullet and get one. There’s no choir or anyone up in the balcony, so I’m good to go there. The church woman told me today that I would be able to place a small unobtrusive camera down low, and up front, as long as it’s where the minister doesn’t see it. One thing I’m not very happy about is being told that I cannot have access to their sound system. The minister wears a mic, but I’ll just have to place a recorder up close to where they are I guess… he won’t wear one of my mics either… so I’ll just do the best I can. I’ll place a mic in the groom’s pocket and hope for the best with it.I would like to thank each and every one of you who has responded. You cannot imagine how much help this is to me!

December 8, 2013 at 12:42 am in reply to: Recommended Lens for Filming a Wedding from a FAR distanceNow that is clearly something I would have not thought of doing. A friend of mine from the U.K. had shown me some samples of video he had shot where he did some panning and zooming in post. This is something I have yet to try out, but it definitely looks 100% better than doing it manually. Thanks so much for this suggestion!

December 7, 2013 at 5:04 pm in reply to: Recommended Lens for Filming a Wedding from a FAR distanceThank you both, Bill and Steve for your solutions. I’m getting a bit anxious at the last minute, wondering what would be best, and not wanting to mess up – wishing I had gone another route after it’s all said and done.
I SO appreciate the detailed ideas for the lenses I should rent, and being new to DSLRs, I am not even knowledgeable about crop factors, which I guess will be something I need to educate myself on.
Thanks again. I WILL be taking your advice!

Yes.. very true. I had actually found some instructions to download the patch from Adobe right after I posted my initial question, so I have already done that.
This was the first wedding I’ve attempted in CS5 with an HD camera. And you mentioned having two cameras….well I had three. Ha! It may seem like overkill, but it gives me three views, and if I miss something with one, I have it on the other (hopefully).
I’ve done quite a few weddings in previous versions of Premiere and have never run into this before, so I didn’t know if it had to do with the HD footage, or what?
(My weddings range from 50 to 70 minutes (not including the ceremony).
Hopefully, after applying this patch, it will all work fine! 🙂 *I have to admit, I had a little bit of a panic there, since this client had requested this be done in about a month* ha!!
Thank you all for your help!!!

Just a quick update. I decided to try deleting my render files…..and guess what? Problem is solved, except I’m not not sure what’s going to happen when I go back and have to render the files again.

Well, yes. I uploaded the files into my main directory on my website. They are all within one subfolder. The video is the only problem. The video file was uploaded to that same folder (in the flv format). It plays on my computer, but not when viewed online. I’ve tried viewing it in Mozilla as well as IE. I get the same thing. Just a black box. I have also made sure my Flash player was up to date… so I’m clueless. I finally went ahead and just used the flv as it was… to show as a regular video, although I was quite happy with the little flash “flip book” I had created. Just sorry that something I spent so much time on didn’t work. 🙁

Okay! Nevermind. I rebooted my machine and everything is back to normal. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

The Consequences…?I would like to thank all of you for your wisdom and advice 🙂 I didn’t realize several of these posts had been left, and was quite happy when I checked. Thank you all very, very much. I am hoping to be on the path to DSLR soon, if I can find a way to afford it! Thank you all once again!

Thank you very much for this information. It does tell me exactly what I need to know. I don’t have much of a budget for any of this stuff, and I’ve been putting it off forever. I’ve been getting that message “eject tape” for a long time now… but somehow I always get it to work.
I have also been WAY over using the tape cleaner 🙁
Just didn’t know any better.

OH! one more thing. What happens when the heads wear out? Is this fixable?
