Hello Chris,
Did you ever figure out the solution for this? I’m using a similar camera and running into the same frustrating thing. -

December 19, 2010 at 7:34 pm in reply to: Changing from SD to DSLR HD video. The Consequences…?Thank you VERY much Peter. I am most definitely going to check out the link you gave.
And I have one last question for you….
(I AM an amateur… and still have a lot to learn)…I’m wondering what kind of recorder you would use for audio for something like this? Because I’ve always just relied on the audio from my cameras, I have NO CLUE. The only extra recording device I’ve ever used is a pocket mp3 recorder.
If you have any suggestion to send me in the right direction, I’d be EVER thankful!

December 19, 2010 at 7:17 pm in reply to: Changing from SD to DSLR HD video. The Consequences…?Thanks Richard. If the camera body is only a small percentage of the whole rig, I’m most defintely not financially ready for this move right now.. but I’m going to be looking into it for sure.
I love the look I’m seeing as compared with SD. The clarity is awesome. It makes me sick to look at the quality of mine, after viewing video in HD.
I am looking for the cheapest camera to do the best job. I can’t afford the 5D, so I was thinking the T2i would be good to learn with. Please let me know what you think. Would I be better off to wait until I could at least afford a 7D, or is the quality of the T2i comparable?

December 19, 2010 at 7:01 pm in reply to: Changing from SD to DSLR HD video. The Consequences…?Also, another thing I’d like to know, is how much video will a DSLR hold? And how about the audio? How do you get the stereo audio when you are videoing with one of these? Is there a lot of additional equipment needed? Right now, I only need my two SD cameras. I just dont want to jump into this, get the cameras, and find out that I am going to have to buy alot of other things that I can’t afford. Then, I’ll be out of business! 🙁

Sometimes, the answer to the question is right in front of your face the whole time…just needs the right person to reveal it 🙂 -
Well, I’ve got Dreamweaver, and Photoshop, so I think I’m well-equipped for something of this nature…I just can’t quite figure out how they got the realistic looking magazine background look.
I’m trying to figure out how to accomplish getting that same magazine background. I’ve tried scanning magazine pages and working with them in photoshop, but I’ve not produced anything like this.
Hopefully I’ll figure this out…because I’d really like to use this look in a project I’m working on… If you have any ideas as to how I might best achieve this effect, please don’t keep it a secret!
Thanks so much for your help! Have a great day!

I edited in Adobe Premier Pro with editing mode: DV NTSC, 29.97 fps, fs: 720×480.
I’ve got my timing issue pretty much cleared up, but the images are still just not right.
The colors are just glaringly bright and appear in places smudged together.
I know there has to be a better way. I am transcoding from Premier. Is there a difference in using different types of software to transcode a project?

Jon, the footage was shot with a Canon XL1s so it’s DV, and I shot it at “Frame Rate”. There is an option on the camera that allows taping in “normal” mode or in “frame” mode. “Frame” is the mode I shot the footage in.
I do not know about the 60i.
These statements will probably tell you how little I actually know about this subject. I’ve not been doing this long enough to know what all of this means. But I’m learning. And I appreciate your help!
