I do this at work sometimes with trailers…What i do is put the finished sequenceA in another sequenceB then option click the sequenceA to open it in the viewer then go to the motion tab and use the distort aspect ratio slider to make it appear 16:9. Use a mask to cover the uneveness or that 1pixel at the top or bottom u sometimes find.

I’m not sure thgis is the same deal but last night i made a simple page of text in FCP5 and put it over a nested clip. Before render it is fine but after there is a fluro green blocking around a little logo in the corner. I am using a Decklink HD with 10bit compression. After speaking with Blackmagic they couldn’t either resolve or replicate the problem. Sounds like a definate issue…

I have to do it sometimes at work. I use a DVCAM deck and send the image & udio through using Svideo & RCA cords. U have to set the device settings in FCP to :non-controllable device”. Hope that helped

Thanks for your quick reply Shane. Yeah i’m aware of the importance of timecode but getting it done at this point in time is crucial looks like i’m going to have to sit through and capture each clip manually. Tried turning off the controllable deck but it won’t let u in the HDV setting i guess a few late nights are in order!

I thought that maybe the case and i could actually live with it but i just found it is doing it randomly as well as on tape cuts. Is there a way i can get around it and make it dismiss timecode?

Hey thanks for the suggestion. I actually was able to use my raid if i start the G5 without the HDV camera plugged in. Even after capturing on the RAID and then playing on the Raid i still am having stutter and dropped frame issues it must be one of the settings. So basically i am going to offline in DV then recap via media manager in HDV then convert to 10Bit any ideas???

Just an external Lacie consumer drive. The raid we have does not show up when the HDV camera is connected. is there a connection?
