[Bret Williams] “Yet you’re still using windows media as the video encoder”

Apparently an issue with Digital Rights Management and QT at the moment.

[Bret Williams] “Personally I don’t even have windows player installed right now.”

There’s a Flip4Mac plug in for QT that apparently works.

Most likely an issue with Motion’s video requirements, since FCP worked on the previous generation (and surprisingly okay).

[Les Kaye] “AE problems within Avid”

Talk about a slip – make that “AE plug-ins within Avid”.

This may not answer your question about Boris, and I haven’t been on an Avid in months, but Elastic Gasket allows you to use many AE problems within Avid. I think I used Shine in Avid at one point without a problem (for that glowing text effect you’re seeking)

One caveat: While FCP ran on the older Mac Minis, Motion did not. The folks at the Apple Store yesterday were unsure if that would change when the Universal Binary version of Motion is released.

You could try the Replicate filter and play with size and position settings.

Just curious – is there an extend edit function as there is in Avid & FCP? A single keystroke extends the cut point to where the timeline cursor is parked.

  • [Carl] “.- Well, in the 10+ years I’ve used, installed and serviced Avid systems , both Mac and PC (For a living) I had the time to test a Lot.”

[Carl] “Well, I don’t know who the heck is Wes Plate, have no idea.”

Perhaps this will give you an idea on why my part in this thread is over:

  • [Carl] “If the guy tells you he can fly, Will you also accept it without any doubts?”
I know who Wes Plate is – I don’t know who the heck you are.

[Carl] “I’m asking you to try it by yourself.”
Be my guest – you seem to have the time.

I however, don’t have the time to prove or disprove something I knew, and which has been reaffirmed by someone who knows far more than you or I. But if you happen to be right, well, then I’ve learned something, If both Wes Plate and I are right, then you’ve learned something.
