There are a few steps involved but I do have a way to make it work. Start by creating your matte using animatte. Right click in the composer monitor and select Export Matte PICT. Now import your matte you just exported. Edit the imported matte into the sequence. (Do not invert the alpha on import) Step into your matte key effect and replace your fill track with the video you originally created the matte from. You can now promote the matte effect to 3D and then use scaling to resize the image. Using this technique will allow you to manipulate the matte element without impacting the background layer. Let me know if that doesn’t make sense. Good luck.

I don’t see system specs in your profile so this link may not apply to you , but who knows maybe it will help. https://www.avid.com/onlineSupport/supportcontent.asp?browse=&productID=0&contentID=7120
If this doesn’t help, what are your system specs? How are you going out to your DVD recorder, firewire or via Mojo with analog or SDI?

Yes, you need to have both projects set-up the same.

You should not import it. As long as it has the .avb extension (I assume you are using Windows) you can place it in your project folder on the finder level and it will magically appear in your project when you launch. You can also place the bin on your desktop or anywhere you want on the local drive and then from within Avid do a FILE/ OPEN BIN and navigate to your bin you placed in desired location.

Each time you get an update of the Avid software it is a self contained full installation so yes, you can install 5.7.3 without installing previous versions. If you later download an update, make sure you do an uninstall of the old before installing the new. Also, make sure you download the Read Me file and actually read through it. If you have never updated your dongle before it helps to read the instructions. Good luck and I have to tell you it is fun running Avid on an Intel Mac.

I have a client in a different state that sends me a drive with media on it (he has the same media on his station.) I edit the piece and then email him the bin containing the sequence. He places a copy of the bin in his project and relinks to the original media. We have not had a case or corruption in twelve months of using this workflow. The only time we had an issue was when I used an effect he did not have. That didn’t cause a media corruption, just an extra step for him to figure what effect to use a substitute.

MPEG Streamclip is free and very robust as well.

Are you mixing a DV resolution with a non DV resolution (ie Dv 25 and 1:1?) The shift can be caused when you mix the two. Also what is your Effect Aperture set to in General settings (DV 720×480 or NTSC 720×486?) If you have your effect aperture set to DV and then create a graphic at 1:1 which is 720×486 that causes a shift because of the 6 scan line difference. I have had this happen when editing footage at DV25 and importing a Jumpback with the import resolution set to 1:1. If you are using DV25 footage I suggest using DV50 for imports and other graphic elements and setting your aperture to DV.

Also, I seem to remember running into an issue where it would not play the multiple feeds if you had V2 or any other higher track active. That is no longer the case, but I do remember running into that in previous releases.

If you are running newer software you can do multicam with any resolution.
