Last month I successfully played 1080i HDV tapes recorded on Canon XL-H1 on my Sony HVR-V1U (20, 60-minute window dubs to DVD). If possible do a test.

If you have to eventually render anything that is not the same format as the sequence (green bar) then I guess the renders will be at the resolution and bit rate of the original clip applied to the sequence. So if you start with a DV25 clip and add an 8-bit uncompressed clip then your 8-bit uncompressed clip will be rendered DV25. If this is the way it works then it seems as if it’s more of an enhanced RT from version 5.x. This does not seem the same as mixed resolutions in Media 100 or Avid where each clip is played at its original resolution and there is no sequence setting.

I had a problem with Carbon Copy Cloner before I upgraded to FCS 5.0. I can’t remember what the issue was, but it prompted me to purchase SuperDuper for $30 which has done a great job for me. The issue with CC must have been significant or I would not have paid for SuperDuper.

As long as they have the same names DVD Studio Pro will recognize them, even if they’re in a different place. Sometimes during the final build, DVDSP won’t like if the marker is somehow winds up between GOP boundaries and the build will fail. In such a case you’ll have to move the markers in DVDSP (where you can drag chapter markers, but only every 15th frame).

You are correct. You cannot move the markers directly by dragging. What I do is place the playhead where I want a marker to go, copy the timecode in the Canvas, open the marker to be moved, and paste the timecode into the timecode start field. When you close the marker and it will move to the desired time. This is tedious, but it’s the only way I know to move markers.
