May 29, 2007 at 7:45 pmI don’t think so. We’ve attempted recording on the canon and playing back on a sony hdv deck and you get drop outs every 5 or 10 seconds. I would assume the reverse is true. The studio is on vacation this week or I would have someone check…

May 29, 2007 at 8:22 pmLast month I successfully played 1080i HDV tapes recorded on Canon XL-H1 on my Sony HVR-V1U (20, 60-minute window dubs to DVD). If possible do a test.

I have compiled four documentaries shot on a Sony Z1 in 1080 50i using the Canon XL H1 as the capture device in FCP. I use it because it gives me HD SDI out. If you shoot Cineframe 25 on the Z1 then I would not expect the Canon to play it back but I don’t know as no-one I know is using Cineframe mode on the Z1.

The tapes I shot on the Z1 are all 1080i. So what I will want to be doing is work with them from my Canon A1 in the same format, if the dang thing ever gets here…
