Thanks, Marek. I used stuffit to unzip the marcus file. the 2 apps appeared – face light & vignette – but no installation instructions. Anyway, I tried putting the apps in various directories (following yr general suggestions):

library > app support > final cut studio > marcus plug ins (didnt work)
    then…

library > app support > final cut studio > motion > library > marcus plug ins (didnt work)
    then…

applications > marucs plug ins (didnt work)

Where do I find installation instructions. Can’t find them in the downloaded zip file. (BTW I mispoke – FCP Studio 2.0)
    Thanks…

I’ve discovered, too, that if I set up the project as a DV Pal project, the 704 x 528 wmv file can be fully viewed.

So I followed the process listed earlier by David. I still have a 16:9 aspect ratio. Should I have also – in addition to changing the setting to DV, etc. – gone to motion for each clip and enlarged each clip to “fill up” to the 4:3 framing?

November 13, 2008 at 1:31 am in reply to: QT compression settings for HDV

The client asked for swf files of the finished project. I did a little research on flash files – something I’ve not worked with before – and, looking at the complexity involved (flv files, swf files, embedding), it seemed to make sense for me to hand off that part of the job so I can focus on the part that I know… so to answer why I’m I doing a qt test movie… so that my friend can see if there are any compression issues (to making swf files) while I keep my focus on the producing, directing, videotaping and editing.

The intermediate codec I’m using is Apple ProRes HQ.

    Thanks for the reply.

November 10, 2008 at 9:30 pm in reply to: FCP compressor failure

    Thanks everyone for their help….

The conclusion of my compressor problems (FCP to mpeg 2 in Compressor crashes)is the following:

    – It’s likely, the FCP show I was working on had corrupt files in it.
    – The compressor was no longer functioning on this or any FCP show whatsoever.

So I did a couple of things:

    – I printed to the show I was working on to tape, and then captured into another FCP show.
    – I re-installed Compressor (with apple’s helpline help)
    – I then compressed the show from FCP through Compressor into an mpeg 2 file

I have now made a finished DVD of the program.
