I think I see what you mean. I am confused to why you would duplicate the layer?

    Thank you Dave

What my actual project is of a guy in a conference room with big windows. It’s a medium shot and the guy is addressing the camera. Looking out the windows was very blue and uninteresting. So I put in a nice city scape and matted out the windows to show it. The problem is the guy’s head and shoulders are in the way of one window. I roto scoped around him but I would notice that I would miss a spot and would have to go back and fix that spot on all the keyframes.
    Any ideas?

Dave LaRonde, Thank you for taking the time to help me out. You’re right, as soon as you get out of the mind set it make a little more sense.
I checked out my new best friend before posting and it explained what rendering was but not exactly how to do it, but I probably missed something. I’ll get it though.
    Thanks again =)

oh and one more question. Why is it when I play back the timeline only some of it gets rendered, as in a certain amount? If i move the playhead to a being of a rendered timeline it has to render again.

I am having the same problem. I imported an .mov file and I can’t hear the audio. I know the audio imported with the movie file because I can see the audio waves. but my audio meters aren’t moving. I checked all those things LGABoarder recommended. Any ideas?

Thank you Steve, your comments are a huge help. I didn’t even think of the obvious such as the clouds going in and out effecting the lighting.
The deadline is not a huge deal at this point. He wants that graphic element in the production. Like instead of a video game looking real he want the real to look like a realistic video game. If you are looking at that statement a little funny, welcome to my world.
This challenge is going to be fun though. Keep it coming with the suggestions. The more thought I can put into this the easier it will be. I have a week before taking the pictures of the building, I want to be prepared.
    Thank you =)
