Click the Pan/crop icon on the clip on the timeline. In the drop down field at the top of the window select 4:3 standard TV aspect ratio. I believe the fix for your problem is in the pan/crop window.

New issue regarding media. On occasion my media will be marked as offline. The clips listed in project media window will be grayed out. I can capture new media to the very same drive that Vegas 8 thinks is offline, and the new media can be placed on timeline and played. The new caps appear in the project media window not grayed out right alongside the grayed out clips.

Thanks for your help with the previous issue. This issue is different in that there is no freezing of the Vegas program, just the “media offline” issue.

Thanks for the reply. My external drive doesn’t have firewire. But like I said, the media works quite well when I’m editing. The bit rate of the drive seems to be fine. It was the transition from one application to another that caused Vegas to freeze for 10 to 15 sec.

Problem solved by “Close media files when not the active application” option in preferences.

Still, I’ll look for firewire on future external drive purchases.

That nailed it. Night and day difference. I wasn’t aware of the “Close media files when not the active application” option. Best advice ever. Can’t thank you enough.

Had a similar problem not long ago. The VHS in question was of poor quality in that case. I corrected the issue by sending the VHS video thru another deck before the capture card. Might have been a Sony UVW-1800. A TBC frame syncronizer would also be a good processor for that purpose. Or try dubbing the VHS to DVCam and then capture the DVCam. Or, loop the video thru a small HandyCam with analog inputs and firewire output. Good luck.

Thanks Theo, that is helpful and I hadn’t thought of doing that. Any ideas on how to copy and paste attributes without pasting pan/crop/mask settings? Mask can be disabled by unchecking the mask box, but pan/crop/size has no box.

Is there a way to narrow the attributes that are copied and pasted from clip to clip? I find myself wanting to paste an effect but not a pan/crop sizing attribute. Also, I’ve noticed a color correction attribute pasted onto another clip will not overwrite an existing color correction setting, but will be added to that correction. Any way to deal with that? Thanks.

Thanks, I found it! That is a better way than saving to the presets.

I guess it is stored with the project .veg file, right?

So how can I transfer that title, and 100 more similar titles that I just saved into collections, to another Vegas project?

And I still haven’t come up with a way to name the title file other than the default Sony ProType Titler 1 – 999

Again, thanks to yourself and anyone else that can help me with this project. I appreciate it very much.

Thanks for the reply. Are you referring to the Save Preset button, to the right of the Preset field? It’s the only diskette button I see.
