Your issue sounds a lot like issues I’m having with Vegas 12. My project apparently gets too big, and while I can successfully save it and close it, it then refuses to open. There is a thread on this topic from earlier last month.
Can you tell me the size of the Veg file that refuses to open in your case?
In my case it was 3,864k. I had an older restore file that I used to rescue my work losing only 2 days editing. Picked myself up, started editing again and when I got the veg file back to approx 3,864K.. it refused to open again. So back to the restore file. Another 2 days editing down the drain, and I finished by editing in segments. and putting the pieces together.
I am very curious about the .veg file size that caused your failure to open, and the error message displayed.
As for your workflow. Nesting is just a matter of actually placing a .veg file directly on the timeline and Vegas will treat it as a single event. I’ve done that and it works fine. I’ve also copied an entire timeline of events from one Vegas timeline to another Vegas timeline with no problems, and prefer that to nesting in most cases. For example.. if I want to copy a title from a scene that’s buried inside a nested veg file, how do you do that?
But please let me know about that veg file size.
