Have you tried adding some feathering to the mask?

That just makes it worse, much worse by spreading the thin black line into a much wider smear.

Hmm… Any chance you’d upload that veg? Are you talking about that Vertical Line passing through the TEXT?

I have attached a screen cap showing the issue. I have also attached the veg file from Vegas used for the screen cap. I used a zig zag line to more clearly demonstrate the issue.

Ah ha! I can’t thank you enough. To be honest I’ve never even noticed the pan/crop button was on the event fx line.

Would this little nugget of info be found in the “book” or is it just something you gotta discover on your own?

Don’t think I ever saw it in a book, it was advice from someone else on the forum years ago.

and years ago I was having this same problem.

Why doesn’t someone start a list of fundamental tips and tricks that are not found in the user manual? It beats having to search this forum and wait for some one that knows the trick to respond.

    Anyway, thanks again.

That would be an awfully long list….
Not to knock the Vegas and DVDA manuals, but with almost everything Vegas, there is usually two, three or more ways to accomplish anything.

I did, a long time ago, have a long list of Vegas tips – I guess I should resurrect it and bring it up to date.
