February 27, 2013 at 12:23 pmI’m not sure what you are referring to either but QuickTime rendering in Vegas Pro requires TWICE the space. Unlike other render types that render to your temp dive and then copy to the target drive, QuickTime renders a temporary file to the target drive and then copies it to the final file! Why it doesn’t simply rename it I don’t know but it does require that you have twice the space you need on your target drive otherwise it will crash. Could this be your problem?

February 27, 2013 at 2:00 pmI need to render a series of 30 sec HD spots for a local cable channel. Having some difficultly with crashes
Vegas 12 keeps crashing when I try to render a QuickTime movie. This is a new install of Vegas 12 build 486. My QuickTime is version 7.6.8.

February 27, 2013 at 2:03 pmAll my drives. To have adequate space for 30 sec render. I’ll check and see where my temp files are being stored just to make sure. Thank you for the suggestion.

I don’t think that you understood me. QuickTime doesn’t care where you temp files are being stored. If you are rendering to D:myvideo.mov then you need double the space on your D: drive.

February 27, 2013 at 2:47 pmI have tried several. Just attempted Sorensen 3. Got to 25% and Vegas crashed. Which codec would you suggest for a 1080 QT render?

The one that the cable channel is expecting. Seriously, you need to ask what formats they accept because they are usually extremely particular about what you can send them.

February 27, 2013 at 3:33 pmIt’s been suggested before so I’ll suggest it again.
Render using the appropriate MainConcept AVC template template and change the extension from .mp4 to .mov
Use the 1920×1080 @ 30p template.
Customize it to interlaced if that’s a requirement.
Odds are that no one will notice the difference.
I’ve done it before and no one said anything 🙂 -

Only if they are expect AVC. What if the cable station is expecting ProRes? or Uncompressed? Larry needs to understand what codec they expect him to use before he does anything else. Then we can figure out how to render it properly. If they don’t care then I agree that rendering to MainConcept AVC and renaming the file is a good approach.
