February 6, 2007 at 9:40 am in reply to: Using FCP’s Export Movie function

    Thanks Tom.

The resulting exported movie is not of the highest quality. The opening credit texts and logo are slightly pixelated and also the image quality is not up to standard. I did check the settings to ensure that the output is at maximum quality.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

Can anybody give us more feedback regarding this issue.

It’s really important since I can get FC Studio for a very good price.

    Thank you.

what a schmuck I am. I never knew the PD170 came in two models. A PAL version and a NTSC version. I thought being digital it had a menu function for switching from NTSC to PAL.

May 30, 2006 at 6:33 pm in reply to: Audio out of sync in Log & Capture

I woke up this morning and after a strong double Lavazza espresso, I discovered to my amusement that the problem was gone.

I cannot follow Kevin’s correct set-up because I am home-editing and being low-key I am using (horrors of horrors) those little Altec Lansing speakers and my tv exploded, so to speak, weeks ok and I am not going to carry up the 40incher Sony from downstairs – yet. When hiring a studio, yes I would log using the Sony BVM monitors and audio via speakers.

I suspect however, could my problem had to with:
User Preference > General > ‘Sync audio capture to video source if present’

It is selected. Turning it on/off, I hear no difference (bear in mind my system set-up etc)

You are right Kevin, I forgot about the little ‘Linked Selection’ button on the top right corner of timeline.

PS- I still did not resolve my capture audio sync problem and I replied to your advice. Your fcpworld.com – very useful webpage, I bookmarked it. Thanks.

May 30, 2006 at 3:33 pm in reply to: Audio out of sync in Log & Capture

Thanks Kevin. But I don’t understand why I NEVER had problems during logging of my tapes in Log and Capture until now. Always watched the footage on the Lacie monitor and listened to the audio from external speakers plugged into the Mac and nothing was out-of-sync.

    Why now?

All my presets have been checked and they are fine. Last time I was editing (2 weeks ago I went off for relaxation and now back) I didn’t have this problem.

I am using PD170 DV camera as a deck connected via Firewire. Lacie monitor connected to G4. Once the clip has been captured there are no sync problems in the Viewer nor on the timeline.

I cannot keep loggin like this. Its driving me nuts!

“Install it and put all your media on the external drive the way it’s designed to work. Then, when you leave, uninstall FCP”

    Of course! Thats what’ll do.

Then again a portable drive edit-suite sounded so sexy….better invest in a MacBook Pro soon.
