I think as long as the suite is ACTIVATED on a machine it can run whether online or not. Of course it can’t be de-activated or updated until back online.

I’m running Creative Cloud on a Mac and PC concurrently – this has been common knowledge since the Cloud announcement last NAB. In the past, you did have to buy the suite for a specific platform.

Have you looked at Lightworks? It’s the closest thing to your dream scenario that I’ve seen – complete flexibility and interface customization with multiple bins and timelines out the wazoo… It’s pretty funky at first but then it starts to make real sense…

I agree with both of you – but because of Raphael’s narrative work I still recommend going with some thing beyond 1080p. At the very least go for the 1D C which is less money than the c300 but does have 4k and allows him to use his current lenses etc.

Nice reel Raphael! If this were a year ago I’d say get the c300 for sure – but with the the F5 available for just a couple of grand more that’s where you should be headed – you’ll be future-proofed with 2k and 4k and raw etc. Your work is too good to lose out to someone with a Red etc. I’d hire you but not with your c300…

This sounds similar to Sony Vegas – where if you put all 10 spots on one timeline then deleted everything but 1 spot all the media would still be in the Media Pool (weird Vegas feature) if you then did any kind of media management, ALL the media would still go with the project. What Vegas has though is a little button to “clean” the Media Pool, leaving only the media that is on the timeline and nothing else. Maybe FCPX needs this type of feature?
I think you could have handled it differently though and just created a project for each spot and pasted the finished spot into each timeline – then you would have had a “clean” project for each spot and managed each spot as needed.

I don’t think it’s necessary to have Xeon’s anymore. I’d love to see a new Mac Pro sporting an i7 6 core Extreme Edition CPU – this should be plenty of horsepower for everyone’s needs and would knock thousands off the price compared to a dual Xeon system.
More important to me would be dual PCI-E 3.0 16x slots for the latest GPU’s, an extra PCI-E slot or 2 for Red Rocket or Kona etc. SATA 3, USB 3 and dual channel Thunderbolt.
With most of the software we use utilizing the GPU for so much heavy lifting, the ability to run the fastest GPU’s available is key. Plus being able to update the GPU regularly as better cards come out by just running out to Fry’s or wherever like I can with my PC is what I’m hoping for.
