Get and EDL from the editor, XML, AAF won’t work
Right click on the folder
Click Add folders and subfolders based on EDL

Wait a minute, and all media will be added to you project, and here comes the trick.

Select all the already imported files in the media pool
Right click – Copy
Then at the folder tree right click on your desired folder on your internal drive
Click Paste

Now a dialog comes up, and let’s you start copying.

AAF is not EDL, they are separate things. EDL supports less effects and transitions you can read about it in the Davinci Manual.

As for the import, the Manual – from page 184 – details the process.
But as far as I can tell it shouldn’t be a complicated process..I don’t know AVID at all, but I was always able to export a linked AAF and import it to Davinci without any problem.

if you have only one timeline, and it doesn’t have speed ramps, try EDL.

At the Deliver page – screenshot: https://i1.creativecow.net/u/239541/resolvescreenshot1.png – you set the “Render clips in” to “Single file”
After that you’ll see a yellow line above your timeline between you In and Out points. To modify them, simply scrub to the desired timecode, and use the two arrows above the “Duration”. Left arrow is the In point, right arrow is the out point. If you set them to the very first, and very last frames, you will see that the yellow line disappears. This means that the full timeline is rendered.

what if you use Colotrace in manual mode? It would be still faster than applying grades from stills.

for 5K footage you need a lot of processing power for debayering (means CPU power) or Red Rockets as Peter explained.
After that you will need a fast GPU – this is for grading the footage, look for the Nvidia ones (gtx 470, 570, 580)

If you have the RMD file, absolutely.

if you have the RDM file to the clip, Resolve can import the settings. Although not all settings will make through, like Lift, Gamma, Gain, and Curves.
Others like contrast, saturation,etc. will be there.
